I am but 3 days away from being a paid up member. I have chosen an 03 V70 D5 SE, now I just need to pay for it :D
Anywho,
My chosen chariot has a HU 803. Being a born fiddler and electrical engineer by trade, the standard setup will not be good enough. Also I need to install a Bluetooth hands free.
Trawling through the forum, I have come up with the idea of the following:
1: Some sort of adaptor to access an extra 'source' on the 803, i.e the MD source.
2: A Blue-Touch multimedia system installed into this extra source.
I have seen the Sensolutions MII MELBUS adaptor mentioned. Does anyone have any experience of where to get one in the UK?
What is involved in adding the OEM volvo dash screen? Is this a Melbus device that is pretty much independant of the head unit?
Could I therefore get a screen, and a Sensolutions MII+ MELBUS A/V unit to allow me to connect video sources to the screen, or would I need to upgrade the head unit.
Failing that, what's involved in tracking down and fitting the Volvo OEM bluetooth preparation?

I now have my car, and I have a Bluetouch multimedia/hands free winging it's way from Amazon (c/w 'Crinch' cable). Now I've just got to figure out how to integrate it with my audio system.
I believe the Volvo 'AEM' may hold some answers.
If this is already fitted to my car (I have the Volvo tow-pack), where would I find it?

Depending on what bluetooth kit you get, (In the boot, or under the dash).
If its the underdash type (behind headunit) you might need the following leads,

I found them when I had to fit a bluetooth with my SC901. It's the same lead for the HU's, here's details,

Well, my Bluetouch kit turned up, however by the time it arrived, I had already exhausted the internet for ways to integrate it. Basically I wanted to be able to have the multimedia side of it coming through some sort of aux in to the HU 803 (was going to use one of those MiiV boxes to replicated the Sat/MD source over Melbus). I also wanted the bluetooth side of the kit to interrupt the radio when I recieved a call.
Was all set to make up a custom divert lead to put the phone through the centre speaker, then I did some adding up.
Bluetouch Kit: 270, MiiV box: about 140, divert lead: 30, and a lot of sodding around and not exactly what I want.
So sending the Bluetouch back, and in the mean time I purchased myself a Pioneer AVH-3200BT. All the features of the Bluetouch, and a bit more. Granted I'm going to loose the centre speaker / pro-logic, but I can live with that.
Had a bit of a panic re: Fascia adaptor as mine is a '03 V70. However if you see my other thread, I've solved that.
Looking forward to Thursday night to get it all fitted up.
In the mean time, I've saved myself £25 by making my own RCA to Din converter to take the new head units line level out, and use it to feed the factory amp.
Maplin sell the plug (HH45Y, £1.09), get yourself a 1m RCA - RCA lead, cut in half and solder in.

Got the fascia on friday, however be warned,
Volvo P/N: 9184995 is Charcoal grey ( I think for the mid 03-04 dashed models).
Anyway, color aside, it's a perfect fit. Ignore the fact that it doesn't have the two metal springy clips for the climate control module, it still goes together seamlessly and securely.
Going to order the correct colour part at some point, in the meantime I needed to get a handsfree kit in my car so I just accepted the colour difference.
The Pioneer head unit sounds great with the upgraded volvo amp and speakers, no need for a sub... yet ;D
Also the bluetooth car kit works great. Mounted the microphone on the rear view mirror aimed at the drivers headrest. Apparently it picks up the voice very clearly.
When I get the right coloured fascia, I will do a reinstall with piccies! Current install was done by torchlight and touch.
