These motors any good? Looking at one as an poption for a track weapon. Are they tuneable and are tuning parts readily available for then? Also are there many problems with them? Any help would be appreciated

Speak to Marc @ 'the-garage'
He's built a 370bhp one for a client.
Gmain on here is a T4 hound he'll tell you all you need to know.
Very tuneable... should get up to 300bhp on standard internals with bolt ons, make sure it's the 1.9 Turbo.

I've had a couple... they are the most chuckable of Volvos, if that's your bag - and you can do loads to them. Wicked little cars in my book.
Send me a PM if you are looking for track-oriented bits as I have some still left in the Aladdin's Cave (including a completely built engine, coilovers, 3" exhaust, etc etc) that are looking for a new home ;)

I have got several cars myself but I love driving my T4. Good fun times from it. Mine is modified a little ish lol check out my pics. It is still going strong and it has got a little over 195,650 miles on the clock :) . I bought the car 6 years ago with 42k on the clock :)

I'd think they would make a good track car with a few mods. They are pretty light for a start (around 1300kgs), so if it was stripped it would be very light. Engines seem reliable when standard, think i have seen that about 280bhp is the max with no internal mods.
I think that if you concentrated on getting the braking and suspension setup right and managed too lighten it by 100kg, that you'd have a decent track car, without doing anything to the engine.
A remap, induction and exhaust would probably give you 230-240bhp. Which, if you had stripped it, would make it pretty quick in a straight line too.

Hi mate, I'll send you a PM to discuss.
Think you made the right choice for a trackday toy... start out with the lighter car, add power ;)

I'm just fantasizing here as I have absolutely no money... but those Gaz coilovers I've seen for sale, plus a stripping out and some minor mods would make quite a track weapon.
I rather fancy a T4 for a cheap trackday car... so if it gets spanked off by someone else (or indeed, I crash it) it's not the end of the world.

I am running 300bhp on stock internals :p
The big ish brake conversion using Evo 3 brake disks and calipers is soo worth doing. Wish I did it sooner.
