Car looks nice but i think there is know way its running 300bhp,sorry to burst the bubble and all that.
Post 323117 by Flatout Phil on 2010-07-27 10:42:32
If I was selling that car as an original Gull, I would stick on a standard grille, sort the Titans, get that bib sprayed and get rid of that, ahem, unusual yellow stuff under the bonnet. Unless it has a decent history, it may get £2000 - 2500 (although without a detailed inspection it is impossible to know - it may be less).
But good luck. And yes, the loss of go faster stripes is a good start (and no, 300bhp is a little optimistic - but it probably does go very fast all the same).

im thinking of gettin a more open style grill :D purely for ram air purposes tho ;)

Car is pushing 300 bhp with the rica chip, performance exchaust/induction kit/ like i said i have had them all,i did have one of my volvo 850r saloon that was chipped to 280 bhp but this one is a beast of a t5r when you put your foot down, the guy my brother bought the car from was a hooligan owner although in his fiftys he almost ruined the cars image with the stupid stripes and the dreaded shiney bumpers, car was also very dirty and stained, the brakes were none existence but i have tried to put it back to its former glory, just requires wheel refurbing and bumpers sorting, the grill is from my collection but i do have the original one but the main thing is it drives proper you can wheelspin in 3rd gear.if it does not sell i might spend a bit more on it and put it in storidge as manual ones are scarce,it will definateley go up in price in a year or 2 i have no doubt, its a real shame about my driving licence as its an automatic one,but i a can drive a manual and might retake my test, most sought after cars are manual so its something i need to think about,my green t5r has just passed 243000 miles and it still drives brilliant i love the car to bits.these 850s are bullitproof if you look after them with regular high quality engine oil changes, happy motoring to all you volvonuts on here

Glws,
Although, I have to say, saying that the previous owner was a hooligan isn't going to inspire many people to buy it,
Also, the way you type is almost impossible to read.... lol

Sorry my friend but there is know way its pushing 300bhp unless its got a bigger turbo on that you dont know about.
Now im not trying to have a go at you but this really gets my back up,why say its pushing 300bhp with nothing to back it up with, loads of people do it then when a chap buys the car and starts telling his mates its a 300bhp monster,he looks pritty stupid once on the rollers and pulls maybe 280bhp at best he will feel pritty peed off.
Also makes my job off selling my car alot harder because i says it probably pushing near on 300bhp and then have to explain why mine is the price it is when there are loads with just a map thats pushing the same 300 bhp cheaper :cussing:(claimed by the owners)
Think you need to do your homework on the power of these cars mate, alot of people (me aswell) have found out that a map alone will not get you 280/304bhp,you will need a bigger turbo or some work doing to your standard one.

when i said hooligan i meant the way he modified the car not the way he drove it,the car is not here to inspire people.they either buy it or they dont its as simple as that

you might need to do your homework i think or maybe you should get yourself an 850r/t5r to play with.t5r manuals are 250 standard brake, rica chip gives it an extra 30 bhp along with the exchaust and induction kit.as long as you have the right exchaust system which is very important,i have dyno print outs between 286-297 bhp.i have personally owned 14 850r/t5r but i used to buy and sell these cars,i think i have sold over 36 of them, theres 6 of my ex cars on pistonheads,1 on ebay.i only use to deal in the real maccoys and no replicas or crap coloured ones.

cheers mate, like i said if it does not sell i might spend a couple of hundred pounds and fully restore it,i also changed the grill and i also have an original grill aswell.those damm stripes were a pain in the neck, the yellow engine dressing is coming off at the weekend, theres a great company called mtec on ebay who do drilled and grooved discs at great prices aswell as standard discs,i changed them on this one and now it stops proper,by the way a lot of people on here really need to buy the genuine article before they slag off these cars, theres a saying for this [JEALOUS ONES STILL ENVY]

well i am seeming to be spend spend spend on mine tho i guess its worth it due to just how rare these gull yellow t5r manuals are :D i may get a gril like urs purely for the fact its gona let alot more cool/cold air into me intercooler when its all fitted back together lol. and gona upgrade my discs and pads at sum stage too :) lots of future mods and tweaks to be made i think 1 never stops really once they start ;)

I think its you who needs to do the homework, you talking about a 14/15 year old car, there is no chance it will be running 250 bhp figure anymore so your already down on your estimation, also the t5r runs a 15g turbo same as the normal 850 t5,now if it was a 16t thats in the manual 850 R then it might have a fighing chance of pushing that figure.
And why would i want a t5r or R to play with when the t5r is basicly a t5 with a few trick bits to the suspension and body work and interior nothing done to the engine but a few more psi for a limited time once you floor it,also the R has a lsd 16t and again body mods and interior.
My motor would probably see off a remaped t5r or R and i think im probably just about pushing 300bhp,sure why dont you have a look at my garage.
End of the day mate as i said before im not having a go directly at you but people in general who claim figures and dont back it up,i could easily do your math on the power figures and claim mine is 350bhp monster but i dont because 1 i dont have a dyno print out and 2 i know its no where near that.

Maybe, but your car apart from being UNYELLOW'R' is a lot nicer...IMHO! :)

standard t5r was the usual 225 bhp just like the t5 but then 30 second over boost giving 240 bhp.
The previous owner chaved it up with neons and stripes so i bet he did rag the hell out of it. My previous Volvo was a manual t5r with a rica remap, miltek exhaust and k&n panel filter and it was not pushing out 300bhp, so prove your claims with a print out.
There are many enthusiasts that share the Volvo forums who work on these cars not just selling them like yourself and all of them will tell you you cannot get 300bhp with just a remap and exhaust.
You may be able to pull the wool over peoples eyes on piston heads etc but not on the forums.

Post up a dyno print out - you've spent hundreds as you say so why not have it dyno'd for a few bob and post up the result.
You are misleading buyers from the off claiming a power figure you cannot rightly substantiate.
Until then you won't get any takers on here.

Your pistonheads advert is hilarious:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1896421.htm
It tells a bit of a different background to the story too as posted above.
(Bit of advice - cut the word count, remove all the excuses, bullet point the important details, and remove all the bragging (PH ad) )
Then and only then may you have a better chance of selling.
It reads like a blurt of incoherent rambling - this one and the PH ad.

I think your being a bit silly tbh,
saying people should get genuine cars before slagging your car,
Remember, your on a volvo enthusiast forum, people here know their car's inside out.
I have owned quite a few 850R's in my time, my latest one was a 1998 car, had spent 2 years as a press car when new and was a forum car from almost new, it had a serious amount of money thrown at it,
It bragged a full turbo back BSR exhaust system, remap, AP racing brakes etc, when I put it on the rolling road it was just over 280bhp,
I think your being ambitious stating 300bhp but as was said before, get the printout up here and prove us all wrong.

you must be one of those timewasters who has nothing better to do except think to himself if only i can have an 850r/t5r you probably own a remote control version.when i sell a car i tell everything that there is to tell, when i mentioned outrun m3/cossies/and evos i meant exactly that,i have raced around silverstone and i bashed all of them in a standard t5r manual,i dont give a rats ass if it does not sell

Ok tell you what go get the car dynoed and come back,if its got 300bhp i will eat my words.
All we are trying to say is that your motor will not be pushing 300bhp,also to help any buyer looking at this thread.
Now to turn around and say 80% of people on here dont know jack is not going to get you very far on this forum, there are some very knowledgeable people here who can give very good advise on these cars.
Bottem line is you come on here trying to sell your brothers car,we try and give some good info to help you out and we get it back in our faces plus more digs at the people who dont own the T5R or R model of these cars, think you need to step back and think about the next reply you will make.
Tell's me nothing?
850 T5 = 225 bhp
850 T5R = 225 bhp with overboost to 240bhp (can't remember if it was for 15 or 30 secs)
850 R = 250bhp
iirc, if you had it remapped this over boost was wiped out .

Lmao!
You know what, I've had enough of this thread.
Firstly, your on an enthusiasts site of people who know thier cars inside out as already said, becuase you have no idea what your talking about and we do, you go on the defensive.
To say we are jealous is a joke.
I've just looked through your previous posts too, it seems all you do as you have stated is buy and sell these cars. If thats the case then you need to contact me first to authorise yourself as a trader, which you havent. This means your in breach of the site rules which contributes and instant ban for that offence.
However, you seem to be alright if not slightly touchy and mislead, so I'll do you a deal.
Produce the dyno sheet of the car showing 300bhp and i won't ban you :)
Fair enough?
