its not a genuine R tho, its only got 4 cylinders
There was a day that 5's did not exist. There were R's before there were 5's, you have to face this..... :) or not
Intresting old stories On the boxy old R with good acceleration for the time. Talking about 5s before volvo and fiat Audi 1977 and Mercedes 1976 had petrol and diesel 5 cylinder units I would be intrested to know why they have not been used more. The first and second merc units can do serious millage 500k- 1m the audi petrols can see 2-300k+ too, and volvos can do 2-500k too. So who ever designed the 5 pot deserves a Drink! I have to confess to being a 5 pot fan. Even better with a Turbo!
They dont make um like that no more :worship:
Just being doing some google searches on 5 cylinder and Paxman built 5 and 7 pot engines before the war. Boats , planes and Tanks have used 5 pots Gmc have started buiding a 3.5 5 cylinder 220hp unit to be used next year in one of there 4+4. Still looking into it but Audi built the 1st petrol 5 pot in 1976.
