right car started to make a knocking noise and clutch slipping so out came the engine full strip down new mains big end, seals clutch etc rebuilt it and now the is a damn tapping from the top end thought it just need a run to get the oil in the lifter but noise stilll there, drives fine and plenty of power and still boosting to 1.6bar just that bloody noise, any idea's chaps
right got the head back off and can not see anything, gonna take out the valve and check them, anyone had any problems with cams, valve, springs making a tapping noise. i have also change the cam followers on what ones that sounded like they were making the noise but still the same Cheers Paul
depending how bad the oil was in it before the tappets may be nackerd, but a good engine flush & new oil usualy fixes the tapping noise. as they are hydraulic so if the oil was crap & didnt get regular oil changes it may be to late :(
i change the oil regulary and i thought the same, you could hear clearly with a srewdriver on the rocker cover which valves it was coming from which was ex on no5 so changed the followers tappits and still the same. have removed the head thinking it might be a broking valve spring but doesnt look the case i will remove them all this week to see properly and stumped.
maybe a set of hydraulic lifters will be your next step
