An all in one unit ie Tomtom go. Pda setup or Orange SPV C500 with bluetooth tomtom. Those who have in car sat nav, what do you have and how do you rate it so far? Mike.
I've got a Garmin Quest & very impressed with it, very clear speak with detailed diagram showing which junction/turnoff
I can say YES to any form of tom tom it rocks! plus version 5 has just been released which looks even better. I use the PDA version with GPS input from my road angel2 and it works a treat. I've also got a friend who has tomtom go for his wife and she finds it very easy to use etc. One thing I would suggest is go for a wired gps - bluetooth may be the in thing but it's a killer on batteries and various things can interfear with the signal. Andrew.

You can get the blue unit to go with the C500 for £100, but you have to buy the tomtom software seperatly. BTW im thinking of getting this - http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=116175 Seems to be the best deal i can find, anyone know of anywhere that can beat it???

to get sat nav on your phone just go here: http://www.tomtom.com/products/product.php?ID=69&Language=1 and buy the tomtom mobile 5 gps kit its about £200. its brand new so its still a bit expensive at the moment but its 100% worth it, trust me you won't be dissappointed. i've just upgraded to it and will be selling my old tomtom mobile 4 software on ebay soon but you'll have to buy a gps reciever as i'm keeping mine, they sell for around £50 on ebay but make sure its nmea compatible.

We have tomtom V3 at work and its quite good except for the lack of proper postcode searching and the fact it doesn't know about the M6 toll road! pretty big piece of missing tarmac that but hopefully these will be sorted in v5. What happened to V4 then? Bluetooth battery prob gotten round using the car kit which charges both units at the same time, few times I've continued way past my turn off before noticing bluetooth adaptor's battery died........ :dunce:

iPAQ, TomTom and a bluetooth GPS for me. I drive for 2 hours per day and only charge my GPS once per week - just get one with a decent battery life. My bird has a compact flash GPS on her iPAQ which works well too - must be said it is a neater solution than mine. Worth considering.

Well my HP Ipaq Rz1710 tomtom pack turned up today.....Yay. A little review if any ones interested: Well impressed with the size of the pda and quality of the screen, not tested battery life out fully yet or the tomtom set up. Sounds pretty cool good for mp3s, just a couple of problems with the Rz1710 - Its low in cpu only 203mhz and its low in internal memory (Its already crashed on me whilst messing around) Then again this is an entry level pda with no bluetooth or wifi (but u can upgrade with Sd card's) I have read some reviews on the package and a few people weren't too impressed with the Nav software, but it does exactly what it says on the tin and to be honest its growing on me and im having problems putting it down. The kit contains: 1*Hp ipaq Rz1710 1*128mb sd (tomtom preloaded) 1*Tomtom pda car holder 1*tomtom wired gps. Unfortuntaly the rz1710 only comes with power cable and usb sync cable, if you want a deskdock/cradle that will have to be purchased seperatly. On order now is an extra 512mb Sd card and ipaq slip case to protect it.

The Tom Tom stuff works really well and I like the forced isometric view which makes navigating much easier. My only problem with Tom Tom is if you ever want to sell it. They don't like it and caused me no end of agro when I tried to flog it to a mate at work. Fortunately we both had Orange M1000s so swapped over.
