got 1k to spend on my AWD..what to do?

Hey folks... got a nice 1k to spend on my AWD, so what to get? 1) 'service' and repairs: CV boot needs doing (nearside), ball joint and track rod (offside), gearchange (sloppy sloppy sloppy) and rear brakes..handbrake? what handbrake?? :-) 2) 'big' front brakes: T5 brackets, discs and yellow stuff pads? 3) err...what's next? I'm open to suggestions, and I'll be talking to RT about doing the work so...? I would like a twin exit exhaust, a boost controller and gauge but after that..? TIA Carl

Handrbrake generally suck on our AWDs anyway matey. Gearchange - you can upgrade the rubber bushes on the gearchange link on the gearbox to brass ones. They are the same as used on the toyaota MR2 apparently (see the thread here http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=71697 and scroll down a bit) Do your own exhaust, like I did, just get some tube, some stainless tips and weld it all up, and pop the insert out of the bumper. Pre tailpipes Stainless pipes on, one problem I think is that they look too small, (they're 3" rolled tips) I should've gone for a bigger oval to fill the gap I've just ordered some yellowstuffs for mine, as I've got some drilled/grooved off Mtec100 on ebay (standard 280mm). Obviously there's a lot of speculation that whatever you fit, its not as good as genuine Volvo parts, but I thought I'd give it a go and see what happens. Oh and make sure that the bigger brakes will fit in your wheels! And yeah, my inner cv boot has a split in it, so I'm gonna need that done before the MOT in November. Happy AWDin

LOL, you'll have to get yourself an awd bumper then, and get a twin made up. Only cost me £20 for the 3" pipe, and £20 each for the stainless trims. Bomb i think i should comission you to make one for me ;) Stuff the AWD bumper for the minute id cut the one i have and put chrome trims round the openings so they both looked the same :D

Yeah, in the middle, the pipe I used was 3". I cut the ends off both boxes, I didn't have anything extravagant as a hole cutter, so I marked the hole size with the pipe and drilled pilot holes all the way round, then chiseled it out. Best thing to do is to put the exhaust back on the car, get the tailpipes in exactly the right position and tack weld them, as I made the mistake of guessing it in the shed LOL, and the left pipe is slightly out.
