As im now running 6k each night in a insane bid to kit fit, i thought i'd throw in 2 nites of biking instead of running - So i set off 22k ride around stockport towards woodford. Picture this im about 2k from home when i notice the handlings become crappy, front tyres got a fast puncture so i grinds to a halt quickly realising ive still attached to the b@stard pedels and fall into the road just missing a moving car!! Over the next 15min im wrestling on the side of the road to get the bleedin tyre off when theres a gust of wind blowing the bike over and whalloping me on the head :slap: Tube gets replaced manages to make it home without any further probs. Still having problems, ive checked the tyre over and the tyre is bursting the tubes somehow, ive checked it over and didnt find a thing! This is the price you pay for trying to stay healthy, almost splattered by a car, my bike takes a pop at me and my tubes wont stay up :splat: Any road tomorrow im off to buy new tyres and tubes, i dread to think what would have happened if i'd have gone swimming instead.....

Nice one, a short bike ride that turns into an adventure!! Bet you were glad to get home in one piece? Had a few rides like that myself especially with one friend who was really disorganized and unprepared, never used to take anything with him. Went for a ride once and he got a punture, he didnt have a puncture kit so i used mine to repair it, but like yours it wouldnt repair. In the process he broke his pump and that was the only bit of equipment he had, that pump got lobbed in the bushes in temper. He didnt have a spare tube and mine had different valves that didnt fit so we were proper stuck around 10 miles from the car. Came up with an idea for him to put his bike on his sholder and then sit on the saddle on my bike, then i could stand on the pedals peddaling and hold onto the bars. It was a bit unstable and crashed a few times but eventually got to the car. Was a good laugh though!!!

Good but unsual thinking rottertron, my mate Mark has a real problem with punctures he's usually going through 2 tubes each ride - where as for me in the past 5 year i've only had about 8 punctures which is good going. Tonight its back to running but thursday i'm hopeing i can get out on the bike again, so if this is the last you hear of me it means that now matter how fit you think you are that nasty grin reaper can run faster!

Punctures are a nightmare, i didnt have any for around two years. Then for around two months i got a puncture every day and time i rode the bike. I even got punctures cycling to work. Ive seroiusly got to get myself in shape too as the lads on my watch at work have collared me into running the Beachy Head marathon later in the year. Ive got to get myself motivated and hit the road!!!!

I've just missed the manchester 10k which my mate did (i didnt as all applications had stopped) so the next step is a half marathon. Theres one in June in Blackpool but im not going to enter it as i'll need about 9wks intensive training and theres no time to prepare so im hunting a half marathon as close to manchester as poss. If you need advice or training programmes check out www.adidas.com/running - they have quite a bit of info and its free!!!

Thanks for the advice, i think i will need all the help i can get as ive never run a marathon before. The course is hard work as its on the south downs so all off road and hilly, and when the weather is bad, its really hard work!!! Eight lads on my watch attempted it two years ago before i joined, 3 of them dropped out before the race with injuries,1 didnt complete the course from an injury, and 3 completed it. And these are fit blokes!!!!

I'd start training as soon as poss then.

Ive been doing a reasonable amount of training recently but on a bike. I was a reserve for a charity cycle ride they are doing at work. 270 miles in three days, they are actually riding at the moment. We had Kaddy Lee-Preston who is the local weathergirl on South-East News come and visit us for supprt so we made it on the box!! And yes if anyone a seen her on the TV, she is just as nice in person!!!

Never heard of her but i'll take your word for it! 270m in 3 days thats gotta take some effort, my main worry at the moment is aggravating my old knee injury but so far so good! Oh found a piccie of her...... Image

Oh wow; that takes me back. When I left school I took a job as a cinema projectionist & when I finished work about 11 pm. I'd do a 30 mile round trip just to keep in trim. Used to take about 1 1/4 hours. Sometimes I'd do a great run along the N. Wales coast, then down the Conwy Valley & back through Llangollen: about 140 miles. These days I'd have a problem getting to the end of the road :frown: See what owning a T5 does to you :B_steerin

The saga continues..... New tyres have arrived and been fitted, broke 2 pumps in the process and got up this morning to find the rear flat. Not having any luck, so far i've gone through 4 inner tubes, 2 tyres and 2 pumps and my mates is trying to get me out for a ride this weekend :slap:
