Thants quite a bad case and certainly not very often we see that with our 850's

In my experience the first ones to go are always white and silver, regardless of make.

Hell no
I havent seen any rust on it but if i do it'll get rectified quick smart :D
I wash it every 4 - 5 days so i'll notice it quickly, it gets polished and waxed regular as well, undersealing is the next thing, i'll get it in the air at work and use some of that spray undersealent its quality stuff, much better than the stuff you used to have to paint on that was full of horse hair.
It was a bitch to work with it went everywhere, not good so this new stuff is a godsend........

If it's been washed in fairy liquid regularly then that won't have helped because it contains salt. It is very unsuall to see one of these rust that badly, I do have a teensy bit on mine but I think it's from where a bits gotten stuck and gone unoticed.

Very unusual our old 850 is still rust free even where she has been scraped and scratched, my phase 2 however has rust on boot catchs and bottom of seat brackets and hinges! However she was catd or c,d when she was around 1 year old and the only thing we could think it could be is flood damage, not sure if was fresh or salt water, but everything works she drives well but brackets on the inside of seats, boot catch etc have a small amount of rust.
Post 227297 by Tomcat on 2009-05-05 14:19:03
If it where salt water the car wouldn't be on the road anymore, it's an instant write off(cat A/B).

Post 227337 by al c on 2009-05-05 17:04:22
when I checked my gul a few weeks ago, before this thread, I noticed rust in exactly the same place. It seems to be the bracket holding the wing on that starts it off. I got a secondhand wing, totally rust free, from ebay. Just need to get it resprayed now!

Be brave and have a go buy your self a spray gun and use the compressor from work.
Ive heard they have stoped selling 2pac and its all water based now

Theres a place near my work that still do 2 pack :0)
About £7 for 1/4 of a litre, then hardner and whatever else i need and they can mix the exact colour you need while you wait, they even do 400ml aerosols for £10.79.

Post 227386 by mk3phill on 2009-05-05 20:26:10
ahhh better to check an have it cured before you get to my stage!!! well i found some more on the inner wing,.. so scraped it off along wit some of volvo underseal,. have sanded it back,.. gave a good lashing of krust,.. and once thats done its magic ill spray it all wit some rust primer an a topcoat of tetroseal...think itll be very rust proof for now.
gonna paint back of the wings and underseal under the sills... i know theres a rust issue there too.
