Why is it that nearly every numpty with a ex police T5 thinks they are chipped? Everytime i look on ebay there is always a ex police t5's that says its a police car so chipped! Or a police car so much faster than standard or whatever! Rich

There's no shortage of BS on eBay. As Lee says, they got brakes and suspension improvements, the engines were left alone.
I thought everyone knew that the two tone siren sets up a 'high pressure air pulse' that is synchronised to the intake of the engine providing a denser charge that effectively gives more power! Combined with the blue lights, which alter the spectrum of the surrounding light towards the UV end of the scale. This is 'bounced' off the white Police car to give what is termed 'UV shift' which if you google it will show you get a better linear response (eg faster in a straight line!!!). ex-plod engines may not be chipped but having seen their driving about town I can assure you that the paintwork will be :D
Did they not use the Wishbones from the AWD ?
I thought they used D5 clutch and uprated suspension to deal with the extra weight of equipment and pies n chavs etc
My recently purchased v70 t5 ex plod was sold to me with the (hay you know they Re map them up to 280bhp) my last v70 was pushed up to 292bhp and even with the extra waight of full leather and un drilled plastics it was a beast to drive in comparison (a tyre eater)
I've been to where they build the police spec cars (a small section of Gothenburg plant) and they said they had facilities for software performance upgrades and built to the spec of the specific police force that wants them and some use the upgrades.
Basically its down to the idiots that buy them from the police and then sell them on, when I bought my old 850 I was told it was chipped (as they all are from the police,lol) they're just idiots trying to make out they're better than they actually are.
I don't know about the p3 stuff but no UK p2 plodder was ever mapped from the factory. In fact, there are very few differences from the standard car.
