Was distracted at home this evening while doing my "oil and water " checks on mine and Mrs Mc's cars; remembered I had to be somewhere and hopped into my car and took off, Fine normally except my bonnet was open!!!!! FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKKKKK Bye Bye bonnet and hinges i reckon. I feel like a total dip$h!t. Won't post pics. Way too traumatic.

been there,done that,years ago, mk 1 escort...was workin on it,closed bonnet & forgot to put the pins back in,went for road test then......bang...took a couple of seconds to realise i couldnt see anythin lol....i wasnt a happy bunny....
nightmare, at least 2nd hand bonnets are reasonably easy to come by, hope the damage is limited to the bonnet and hinges
If you makes you feel any better ive had a mare of a week! The subarus gearbox let go again (had it fully reconned @ a cost of £1300 3 months ago!) so had to get it lifted home and take the clio down to southampton. Then the clutch cable snapped on that whilst i was in traffic!!!! Hope you get it sorted mate

Has it damaged Roof, I had a mate that had an orion, bonnet flipped up at 70, bonnet embeded in roof, windscreen smashed, car was a write-off. Hopefully being slow may just be limited to bonnet hinges and possiblly bonnet - probably not worth an insurance claim.
I've never had a bonnet lift, but I did once open the electric Webasto roof on a Renault Fuego whilst doing 80ish... ... it opened alright, opened whipped up in the air and came straight back in via the tailgate. I spent the next few days giggling and picking glass out of my scalp.
Ok, just finished surveying and trying to hide the damage. Both upper corners of the bonnet are creased, small dings on the wings and the hinges are sh@gged! Managed to get the bonnet opening and closing ok and sitting flush with the wings again but it took an 18" stilson to do it!! New hinges and a small trip to the body shop should sort it. I Think I got away veeeeeery lightly. Oh and I discovered that the centre "secondary" latch is stuck open. Not going to help.
