Anyone got any recomendations for cleaning products to remove all that brake dust thats encrusted on the wheel that won't budge

If I get to this level of "tardiness" :rolleyes: I apply a spray on diluted-degreaser, rinse off and then wash as usual. Do this before starting to wash the vehicle itself.
Never used alloy wheel cleaning products to date, but will convert in the New Year - have a look in the detailing section of our forum, some good advice.

I used Bilberry wheel cleaner the other day for the first time, someone on here recommended it. Much better than Autoglym stuff that I swore by in the past. It foamed up nicely and the wheels looked spotless after it. Bought a 5L bottle which mixes 1:1 at its strongest dilution. I worked that out to be quite economical compared to Autoglym. Also use the Autoglym wheel brush which is really good.

I use Blackfire Gel Wheel & Tyre Cleaner this stuff wont eat into your alloys like allot of other products out there, If your alloys are really nasty looking use the Bilberry but I’m not sure if I would use it on a regular occasion. Try buying Poor Boys wheel sealant once you clean your alloys apply 2 coats of this stuff and it will make cleaning your wheels a lot easier next time.

I use baby cleaning wipes. Also leaves a coating wich makes cleaning easy.

I use Astonish multi purpose cleaner from the pound shop,amazing,and it only costs about a pound,just rub it in clean off and polish the wheels,it gives fantastic results and is safe as it only has natural ingredients,tried it by chance and the results amaze me still.All my friends use it instead of branded wheel cleaners,takes a bit of elbow grease but well worth it.

Chemical guys premium blue wheel cleaner - 1 part in 4. Wheelschmitt and a wheel brush.
Best I have found and not acidic.

The induro wheel curved wheel brush is good for cleaning tyre walls prior to dressing them. I use the megs high gloss - it lasts for a good couple of weeks.

Not when watered down in a spray bottle hehe once im back at work i need to get some more autosol it's fantastic and lubricates as well and before u say no it isnt the metal polish lol its a orange colour even the md uses it on her merc good for cleaning anything greasy. sorry my bad its ecosol

Good one Adge...........thought is was just me that refused to spend stupid amounts on 'wheel cleaning' products........!
I actually used Flash Anti-Bacterial surface wipes (lemon fragrance - makes the experience extremely pleasurable).
One side of the wipe is textured to assist with the really baked on stuff. I swear they were made for cleaning alloys. A pack costs about £2.50 for 80 wipes. One wipe per wheel makes for very effective (and cost effective) clean.

I don't use wheel cleaners since I managed to damage an alloy finish with one many moons ago. Since then when I have come across an alloy wheel which requires more than the usual car shampoo and sponge I use Autoglym motorcycle cleaner. It's alot less abrasive/acidic than the alloy wheel cleaners I have used in the past so is less likely to mar the finish of the alloy. You may need to use a few applications but it has never failed me yet! :)
