Mileage, Servicing ect...???
Post 185987 by kdst5 on 2008-10-03 20:15:13
Mileage is just over the 150k and it had a full service history until I got her
Oil and filters every 6000 etc since I bought her loads of history aswell
only real problem is the drivers seat bolster starting to go.

as Jaseb will testify i went from NW london to glasgow just to pick up two wheels from him:eek:
if you want it why let the distance put you off?
obviously do a bit of homework and get as much info about the car as you can but if it was what i was after, i wouldn't let the distance get me down.

Cheers man as you say distance is,t an option. I went to the other side of leeds to buy her didn't think twice got the info I wanted and off I went, and 150 on the motor not really an issue.

Man, switching a Volvo for a S-type, interesting.... my Dad has had the 4.0 / 4.2 (whatever it is) and lately the 3.0 sport S-type...... nice cars, smoother ride than the Volvo's but the 3.0 is no faster IMO.............
They do have a habit of going wrong, I think because they have electric everything, and if the battery goes flat it does send the alarms haywire, so just a heads up not to let a duff battery go flat over the winter, we figured that out the hard way!!
Oh, and you probably already know this, but the older S-types do have a key hole in the boot to unlock the boot should the battery ever go flat, but it is hidden away under a lip....... a lot of people don't know that and end up paying to get the car towed because they don't know how to access the battery when the central locking is broke LOL.
Looks rather nice, I haven't seen those alloys on the Stype before? They after market?
Hope you enjoy because they are really lovely cars, very smooth.
Sorry for the hijack...

how often do the yellow ones come up for sale ? are they quite rare and are there a lot of old dogs for sale ?
Post 188533 by cameron on 2008-10-15 12:27:27
Theres been 4 or 5 in the last couple of months ive seen.
A couple on here and 2 or 3 on ebay.
You do have to be careful as with any 12-13 year old car but these cars are a bloody bargain at the minute.
A car with almost every extra that does 140mph + for £2k or less, BARGAIN!
