Mine has wanted doing for a while now, i keep resetting the car by removing the battery for 5 minutes, which then makes it ok for another 4-5 weeks, any recommendations and best prices in the North-West ?? i got quoted £280 at rybrooks, so just really trying to see if i can get a bit cheaper, as times are a little hard at the moment for those among us who are self employed ;) also i dont really want to get it done at Rybrooks, i dont like it there, and i believe they started it off, it was ok before it went in last November for its recall work cheers Nev

I thought Volvo would pick the tab up for this work?

Believe there was a mileage limit (<100k?) for this as a warrantied works.

They'd pick up the tab for the 'ETM clean and software update', but would only make a 25-50% contribution to replacing the ETM entirely. I though this was a £600 job at a main dealer, so I think the £280 quoted is the discounted price....
Believe there was a mileage limit (<100k?) for this as a warrantied works.
No, but once its been done (which it has, last november he said in the first post) if it happens again they will then have to change the ETM and this is not covered (not in full anyway, as said though there can be a contribution from volvo for this)

sorry,,email notify not working, although switched on :( yes had the etm clean last november, i dont want to bother getting it done a 2nd time, although i believe its free twice, just gonna get it replaced as soon as i can afford, yes i believe the delaer contributes a % and Volvo the same, which leaves £280 remainder, the only free bit is the clean &software upgrade. the ETM replacement comes in around £600 before discount i dont think its too bad, its still a bitter pill to swallow as the guys over the pond get it for free, as they have better consumer laws, and the original ETM definately not up to the job will just have to hope some more work comes in soon :(, or will be selling car, van and everything else. damn you Gordon Brown , your putting me out of business. this time last year i wouldnt have thought twice i would have just gone and had it done.
