Could try uninstalling and re-installing the software then running the update.
yep nobanananananas thats the easyfix.
Will give it a go then!! Thanks
Uninstalled and reinstalled AVG. Now getting same message plus data etc out of date!! Next step? Don't like this vulnerable feeling!!
"Have you tryed turning it off and on again" LOL! - I'm so childish sorry!
No, but I will!!
Stiil no use!!
Try doing a full windows update www.windowsupdate.com but only if you have a non wobbly copy of windows!
Tried downloading the latest update using the AVG controlpanel? Are you using Version8? If so dump it. Its poo. I have heard good things about comodo but not installed it yet as my AVG 7 is still updating after promising not to for the last month
Have been really p-leased with AVG 8 until this event. Have tried System Restore but that seems to turn off AVG!!

It's still free, you've downlaoded the trial version, not the free home use version. http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?part=dl-AVGAntiVir&subj=dl&tag=button With regards to the .bin message, see here: http://freeforum.avg.com/read.php?12,142806,backpage=,sv= EDIT: Just tried it, and updating appears to be working fine again now.
Success!!!! WOW!! The help I've received has been overwhelming! Almost brought tears to my eyes, but not quite!! Followed Wombatbombs links and all is now up and running again. Can't thank you all enough!! PMd Jimka
LOL just seen this - I had ot too this morning so I opened it up and forced a manual update which fixed it immediately, no uninstalling needed.
