Hope you don't mind a Rear Wheel Drive question....
Question:
Should I modify the crap out of my 1983 US Group-A Special Edition 242 or should I bring it back to showroom original condition, either way I go, it will be comprable as far as cost goes. As You may know, it is sort of a rare car allthough it's never going to be a high dollar car, it is however, a slice of Volvo racing history. I think I know what I am going to do, I just wanted to bring it up to you guys (and Gals) and see what you thought. It's all straight, very little rust, all in one piece, all comlpete, non-modified, it actualy ran pretty well before I took the rusty exhaust system off it. Has some of the usual age sypmtons of a Volvo of this vintage. Below is the only picture of it that I have access to right now, I'll get some more up later if interested, it's the silver one. Comments, opinion, questions please. :help:

Take it back to showroom mate! You mod it up and you'll be left with a car thats a vintage and done up to your taste but wont be many peoples cup ov tea if you know what I mean??? Take it back to showroom and you've got a car thats a little piece ov history that would make a cracking show stopper. Should hold a bit more ££££££ as well

agreed, i'm not one for standard cars but if its rare then it has to be done (but at the end of the day the choice is yours)

1 of 500 made... the first intercooled automobile to hit US soil from the factory. Mass production Intercooled Volvos did not officially arrive in the US till the next year in '84. These 500 cars were built to satisfy US inspectors in order for Volvo to race them back in Sweden. A hand full of these cars were sent back to Sweden for extreme modifications and raced. They kicked ars from what I gather. The normal US production cars at this point were sporting the newer "Bullnose" front end, these 500 cars still have the "Flathood or Flatnose" that was still being used in Sweden. All said, the only real difference between standard issue US 1983 Turbos and these 500 Turbos is the presence of an Intercooler, the Flathood and two pieces of heat tape (see photo) above the turbo on the underside of the bonnet. Oh yah, the VIN numbers also suggest a special edition car.
