Why do people complain about this sort of stuff? How long has Castle Combe been there? Surely if these local residents do not like the noise then they should not have moved there in the first place! It's like buying a house under the flight path to an airport and then complaining about the low flying aircraft!
It's a shame - it brings job and money into the area. tsk.
it has been there 55 years!!what next santa pod,brands,silverstone.Your right i bet virtually everyone has moved into the area and has'nt lived there for 55 years,they must have known that there will be noise from a track,its not like its the whole time either.I would tell um to piss off and get double glazing.Why can't they just like the noise lol
I live next to a Motorway. Before I bought the house I knew there was a motorway there. I knew that with a motorway would come noise. The noise isn't actually all that bad. It's faint most of the time although if it's wet and there is a wind blowing towards my house then it becomes a bit louder. I hear the occasional accident late at night - presumably drunk drivers hitting the central reservation. I wonder if I can complain to the local council about the noise? Seriously, these people really should get a life. If the track has been there for 55 years then the chances are that most, if not all of the local residents have moved there AFTER the track was built. Regards Andy
I personally dont like noise at home, thats why i wouldn't live near a race track ! So i'm with you guys, if the noise came first they shouldn't have a leg to stand on. I guess the moral is research the area when you plan to buy a house.
OMG. :yikes: I was brought up less than 5 Miles from Castle Coombe. I have spent many a happy bank holiday monday there watching crashes etc. And that is the important point to note - Yes we could hear the noise from a couple of miles away, but it was only a low humming drone. And only on a BH monday ie no more than 8 per year, I dunno how often now. Other events didn't make much noise. How often are you disturbed by noisy neighbours mowing their lawns every sunday, or their out of control kids screaming up and down the road every damn night. I agree - these people should get a life., and put up or shut up. Off to sign the petition now.
I drive past it every day! There is an event there every weekend weather its a car boot or a race day. That would be a massive blow to the local economy. Can't see it happening myself!
Agreed. It's bloody stupid. I was sent the e-mail addresses for every member of the local council, along with a request to mail them all and honk about this lunacy. This I did. Croft also had some similar problems from residents of a new housing development near by. Croft is still going, so there's hope for Combe. The championship I'm in is racing there on Saturday, so I shall enquire further as to the latest state of affairs. If they want some real noise to complain about, then every club racing team that goes to Combe this year should drive through the village blowing horns, reving engines, etc.

Showing them that you can respect the local neighbourhoods is far more likely to impress when the local rag goes there and here's nothing and sees careful motoring. All the racing should be reserved for the track - at least their it is expected and if it's once or twice a week to be expected.
Quite right. I speak in ill considered anger there. :rolling_e Fact is, we all drive through there slowly. Most people are towing trailers or driving transporters. You just have to take it easy through those narrow lanes. Don't worry, I'm not going to start a "Wake up the Locals" campaign! Just a badly expressed point that the noise club meets generate is a hell of a lot less than it could be. I've been there quite a few times and people DON'T drive to and from the circuit like nutters. Round it, yes! Interestingly enough, I've eaten out at a couple of the nearby pubs. There's been times when the bar has been two thirds race teams, yet the locals I've spoken with have never been in the least bit hostile. Quite often you meet some people who've been spectating. Perfectly friendly bunch. :smlove2: Methinks there is a vocal minority behind all this. :frown:
i have to agree it will be a tiny minority that are moaning,sad thing is they probably drive volvos lol :smirk: .
I'm petition siginer 2423 and I'm proud of it....I've got a RAF runway about 1/2 mile from the house which could run 24hrs a day if they really wanted.... I little rumble of a V8 doesn't even come close when your house is vibrating from the afterburner sound.... I can hear the V8 cars from Ty-Croes from my house about 4miles away...doesn't bother me in the slightest...
Combe on Saturday, but couldn't find anyone who actually "knew" anything. Lots of BRSCC people about, but I didn't find anyone from Castle Combe to ask about the latest. Then there was the race. Then there was the "racing incident". Got a bit distracted after that!!
