I have just had my renewal in from Adrian Flux who i have been with for years
first quote was 10 instalments at £52.50= £520
phoned a few quotes and got one for £362
So a phone Adrian Flux back tell them and they say they can beat that and give ma quote for £360....a know WOW!!
So a sat ok fairdo's.....few days later a get a letter saying 10 monthly debits of £49= £490
Then the day after a get another letter from them saying £66.42 in 10 monthly payments
Now this is to do with intrest on monthly payments @39% and the fact that Adrian Flux use a credit company. But going back to the first quote the lady assured me that my renewal quote was £360,they don't tell you about the added intrest that they put on until they send the letter through the door
So from £360 to £660 is a big difference and am well peeved off
So anyone know a good insurance company?
thanks
Neil

Wise words.
I'm with Admiral/Churchill which got me the 2nd cheapest quote, but i'm not sure about their interest rates.
Flux actually got me the cheapest but I didnt go with them because I didnt like the attitude of the salesperson :cussing: (was only £10 cheaper anyways!)

it annoys me how you can never get AFs best quote the first time, you have to come back to them wiith a better price to get anywhere. Stick it on a loan or crediat card - just make sure you pay it off!

I was happy with AFs quote for me but maybe I should have tried it on!
Norwich Union £970!!!!!!!!
AF £570
£400 - no wonder I am happy, and that was like for like: fully comp protected 5 yrs no claims, smaller excess, breakdown cover and monthly repayments and I don't seem to have had to pay more than was initially quoted for the interest :)

I was with adrian flux about 5 years ago because they gave me the best quote for my citroen ZX. Some pillock hit me and drove off and the car was a write off. They were very unhelpful when i booked the claim and they took nearly three months to give me my money. Not going back there again

Hi all,
Just thought would throw my ten pence in as well and state that this company has got to be the worst and most unhelpful I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with, with their admin being the worst ever.
I went with them last year and paid the full premium by credit card. I had to submit my proposal and vehicle modification form three times before they acknowledged receipt.
When I had to change cover to my wife's 854 for a week, whilst mine was off the road they charged me £25 each way, which I paid by Switch card on my current account.
The best bit came this year at renewal time. In the past with other companies I normally get a renewal quote a few weeks or maybe a month before the actual date, but with this shower I didn't recieve a thing, by any form of communication.
Seeing as I was going to sell the car and had become a named driver on my wife's car I fully intended to let it lapse.
Surprise surprise when I got back off holiday and on checking my current account statement I find the cheeky toerags had deducted over £400 from my account and also charged me for legal protection, which I certainly didn't want or need.
When I protested I was propmptly referred to their terms and conditions, which I am sure everyone reads from cover to cover and was told that because they had not heard anything from me in response to the renewal notice,( which I never had) they were quite within their rights to take the cash.
The worse thing about it is they didn't take it from my credit card, thereby giving me 28 days to transfer some cash in from elsewhere, the shower of manure took it from my current account, landing me most firmly in the red.
I have been in discusion with at least four different members of staff to try and get them to at least re-imburse my overdraft charges and the legal protection, but I might as well be talking to a housebrick.
Any apology so far? not a chance, so please any of you out there who may be thinking of using them be very careful because they couldn't give a flying stuff.
Regards to all

Have used Chris Knott on family cars for years. Good quotes, dealing with people in this country when making inquiries, excellent service when repair work necessary!

I use Flux to insure our horsebox....they were cheapest by miles however the Volvo is insured with Chris Knott who again were cheapest by miles, especially considering the mods.
If you possibly can Id pay it in one go. You'll probably find your credit card has a lower apr than the installment option, and that doesnt just go for flux either.

Bell direct / flexibell have done me a good price, they are charging me 8% to pay on installments.
Post 177734 by Pandamedic on 2008-08-22 07:48:40
I went back to bell this year as they were cheaper then anyone else. I didn't do the montly thing though, just paid it all off in one go and then ate nothing for a month! lol.
Like someone said, get a loan it's cheaper with some places at 6%apr, or get a credit card with 0% for 12 months or something, then get rid of it after.

does anyone try Tesco Compare?????
Try it, Im now with SwiftCover.com. I've heard some stories, but they where FAR the cheapest insurers, and at the end of the day, Im not planning on having a bump, and I dont drive like a looney, so I dont expect to claim.
The main thing is Im legal, and all for £276.00 fully comp on my C70 T5 and that paying a deposit, and £24.00 a month ;) hardly any interest :D
:D

£300 with Admiral, paid it in 1 go, 1st time ever :)

I've been with flux for years now, no complaints here.
When trying to insure the T4, loads of companies wouldn't touch it because of the mods. Best online quote I got was over 650 quid whereas Flux came in under 400.

Also been with Adrian Flux for years, However they’re admin is S**t but I do a confused and knock off £100 then get Adrian Flux to match it!
Works every time :)
P.S Although they totally took the Pi** when I wrote my old T5 off, refusing to give me a courtesy car as "I" had said I think it will be written off, well I was right!
