850R and T5R lowering

Ok as many of you know I have a standard T5 850 and am thinking of lowering it. Does anyone know how much lower the R's were compared to standard. Also (the big test) what were the spring stiffness compared to standard. Answers on a postcard or alternatively just reply in this thread. Cheers

wouldnt bother personally with R springs, better off with a well known brand, youd have more benifit for your cash

Don't want to completely destroy the ride though. Just exploring options at this stage. Anyone any idea? Alternatively does anyone have a brochure from the time? That might tell me.....

Budget not silly money that is why I'm considering all the options. Just the dampers could be one answer...

Well for a few quid you could just snip the springs, although not recommended. For 100-200 you could get either new springs or new shocks. Double for both. I just got a new setup, and I'm very pleased with it - though it did cost me more that I initially budgetted for (replacement additional parts, broken tools etc). Search for Koni FSD for my post.

Well i am running R springs and monroe shocks on my 850 t-5 and i preferred the old standard springs,i will be changing to some aftermarket springs when i get time.hope this helps!! Mikey

I presume the R springs are lower?? are they harder than standard ones, although of course if they are lower, then they are likely to be harder..

They didn't work out lower on mine,but the handling was better and yes it was slightly harder.keep an eye on tyre pressures as this makes the top mounts bang i am running on 17 inch volans with 40 profile tyres. Interesting to hear Mikey, definately no lower. I was sure the R's were lower.... Wright, the poly bushes on the LCA's (lower control arms) are better than the strutt brace in terms of sharpening up the front end. Steering response and trun in much improved although the enevitable down side of a more crashy ride. For the money one of the best mods you can do IMHO. :thewave:

Adjustable front and rear Koni's for under £400 http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?a=i&p=2617162 Put this on my old 855 T5 and ran 215/45/17's no problems. Gives same look as T5R.

I ran the koni kit from Larkspeed on my T5 for a while, wheels were 215/40/17s, no rubbing.
