a gsi, cool - i looked at these once, had both a astra coupe turbo and a astra gsi, both with the z20let lump in them. A decent performer with lots of practicality - bit like the volvo in that respect!
lovely looking motor there madness...just out of curiosity what made you go for it as im sure they must be rare beasts and not your everday model
i liked the colour! seriously tho we needed a bigger family car, friends have a zafira which we like and we had this gsi at work so i thought why not . apparently we havent had one for sale for ages, not many around. and if i was getting one it had to be the gsi turbo :B_steerin it really perfroms ok and handles well

you dont fancy swapping it for a t4 lol

is it full leather? that was a fairly expensive option over the stock 1/2 leather. Arden blue the colour is called, exclusive to the Astra/zaf GSi and now the VXR range. The engine is fairly mod-friendly, bags of torque from stock. 200bhp goes to 240ish with a remap (courtenay/regal are the main two vaux tuners) another 10ish bhp can be achievable with a aftermarket fmic (one that is larger and fits accros the whole of the front in the air flow rather than at the side behind the bumper!). A few more from a zaust, and maybe one or two removing the restrictor pipes from the airbox and adding a foam filter element - dont bother with an open cone). Now, with arrival of the astra/zafira VXR - the engine has been developed further with a larger turbo and (iirc) bigger injectors. The VXR bits can be bolted onto the older GSI engine easily for a bit more! As stock it should do a 1/4 mile in around 15.3/15.5 - not to shabby :) Some ideas to get you started!

cheers arbee. it is half leather as well. vt are already on the list for a remap. bigger turbo and cooler sounds good too... the 1/4 mile is very similar to the standard t4 !! nos'd up zafira anybody ?:rice: would i do it? > you bet i would

From my vaux days as a lad, regal are the guys to go for, I remember some bad things coming from courtney.... Vectra + calibra GSI's with 350+Hp - All it lead to was holes in the top of pistons :(

Post 133145 by madness on 2006-08-10 23:19:33

forged rods and pistons will be higher up my list this time , dont want another incident lol

On a '52' plate...? - Nice. I quite fancy one, but the missus wanted a diesel Touran, so that's what she got.

I would also recommend regal over courtenay as mentioned above.

Post 133377 by madness on 2006-08-11 22:26:52

cheers viking!! my missus wanted the bigger car and liked zafiras but only i chose the model
