Don't change down gears when coming to a stop or a round about. Brake to the corner and change when you here or feel the engine coming to a stall situation. I hope that makes sense.

Basically the engine in most cases here is a 2.3 or 1.9 turbo, the purpose of the turbo is to cram more fuel into the bore to allow more fuel to be added for a bigger bang.... Theory suggests that the lighter the throttle foot, the less air it will cram in, the less fuel the injection computer will add the the compressed air. This means that driving off boost is the most economical way to drive, so if you drive using the boost guage, then that must be economical, surely??? Anybody?
my turbo kicks in at approx ~2k - is this normal?

Inflate your tyres to 42 psi all round Never put more than 1 gallon of petrol in Don't carry a spare wheel Don't wear any clothes Go on a diet Never carry a passenger Never open any windows / sunroof Always drive really close to the car in front so the you are in 'the tow' and that old favourite... fold your rear seats down - lol

Have your daytime running lights disabled.. Lol.. Remove all interior trim, doorcards, speakers, stereo, air-con, sound deadening, spare wheel..... Wait a minute, this is not why you purchase a T5, who gives a smeg about Fuel consumption?

We persistently hear of grumbles regarding M.P.G .As previously stated if you are concerned don,t buy a T5!
not concerned just on the way to and from work thought i mite as well get good mpg and then have some fun when im out in it
Go to Vt get a rica and 19T , only use optimax! Turn your AC off and cruise at 70 mph ( don,t use cruise it uses more fuel) I did this recently as I was low on fuel and managed 37.1 mpg over aprox 70 miles! I also didnt exceed 2500 rpm in any of the gear apart from top! But it is boring my MPG hasnt been reset since and its back to its normal 23.5! and dropping!
my mpg has gone through the roof this week!!! got a closer job and bike to work now
