Hi
Its been a while since I posted on here but I have been visiting very regularly.
Anyway, I will soon be looking at purchasing a V70 T5. I will be spending anywhere between £4000 - £7000 but really want a very good example. I will be commuting a 100 mile round trip on the motorway daily and intend to use it for European travel also.
The question is - how much better if at all is the current shape V70 vs the V70 that superceeded the 850? If you had the money I will be looking at spending what would you have and why?

It really depends what spec of car you want, you can get a bloody good phase 1 R for £4-£5k or you could get a ph2 T5 for the same amount of money with high miles, If i was you i would get a peach of a car for low money and have some money in the bank for mods, just my honest opinion,

Chap - I'm going to throw up fuel economy. 100 miles each way per day gonna cost ya. Perhaps, and I'm not sure about saying this ;P, consider a D5 ?

Only thing is - i don't particularly want a massively modded performance car. An example would be tristans 854r which has looks in my opinion to die for. Problem is I do not need 340bhp. I had an 854 t5 and it was plenty fast enough in original form.
I wouldn't mind a rica 280 but that would probably as far as I would want to take it. Mrs Mopp always seems to have nice cars and I am waiting for her to sell another that takes my fancy!

Adam at VT can tweak D5s for extra performance.

Thats sounds a cracking car!!! and with a remap you will get even better fuel economy and a faster car at the same time! We are going to be selling our V70 T5 soon and I am trying to convince Hamish to buy a D5, but he is not having it as he wants an 'R'!!!!

I would seriously consider a D5 if your covering that many miles, as already sugested once its had a bit of RICA magic it'll not be far off a T5 anyway :)
