Parked up at works car park, left my satnav on the dash charging. Some barstards have put the window through and legged it with my sat nav unit. Sh!tbags. Got an ID on the car with 3 young lads - Blue Mondeo L774 DYB. Not impressed. Please dont say its my own fault for leaving it on charge as you can imagine how im feeling at this present momment. On one good thing they have left splatterings of blood on the car so im just waiting for the police to arrive. Feeling really angry and down. Need cheering up......HELP!

Post 126208 by Cueball_MOB on 2006-07-17 14:14:34

Really sorry to hear that mate. As you know I'm in the area so I'll keep an eye out for the Mondeo, which area do you work in? Also, if you need any assistance/help this afternoon - I'll PM you my Mobile Number. Don't worry about asking, I'm not doing much anyway - just clearing out the garden and going back and forward to the tip. Hope you catch the b@st@rds (call me if you do - I don't mind helping with a little facial rearranging). :cussing: Commiserations Cue

F***ing wee bast**ds! Sorry to hear about it mate. Most of us have chanced leaving something in the car once in a while. Sometimes I go out to the car in the morning to find I'd left something on display all night and have to think myself very lucky. Well done for the id though, hope the plod catch up with them...or you do!

KILL. KILL. KILL. These are the three words which you must think of until the f*ck wits are found! Chicken McGutted matey, just hope you find them.

Gutted for you - I had my car done a few years back when I'd parked up in a hurry / in the rain / for ten minutes... lost phone, pda, camera, wallet, etc, and it was all *out of sight*! SOCs turned up and took blood swabs so hopefully when they haul them in for something else, they can DNA-test them and... erm... maybe not.

Post 126231 by Ryan_pat on 2006-07-17 15:49:50

i feel sorry for you but not as sorry for you as i do for my friend. 2 different thiefs stole things from his car with in 4hours of him being parked up, then finally his car was stolen! all on cctv lol he lives in a ruff street, he has a nissan skyline, quite new, sat nav dvd player etc.. the works! - so of course he kept cctf on his car. anyhow, he parked it up and at about 10pm some guy brakes his window jumps in and steals the satnav, 30mins later another guy walks past sees the window smashed and opens the door and looks around, finds a mobile phone! finally at 3am, two DIFFERENT guys come back and steal the car! and its found three days later tottally wrecked. gutted?

A kicking's too good for them! You spend loads of money on your 'pride and joy', keep it clean and tidy and them some loser ruins it all in seconds for a quick fix. :cussing: Let's set up a VPCUK hit squad! Cue

Bad news indeed. Sorry it's happened to you. Perhaps you should move to Suffolk, someone broke into my car at the weekend and ............... fitted a sat nav!

Post 126250 by lil_me on 2006-07-17 17:22:14

:cussing: Don't they make you just so angry, no respect at all have they. Hopefully they injured themselves if they left blood, and any luck the car will be in their name aswell.

Cheers for the kind words, just got in. Had to wait for the police to turn up, 3 hours 2 late, then i had to take my car into the station for swobbing as they no longer come out. Still hunting around for a replacement driver side door, best i've had is getting it fitted on Wednesday!!!! I'm annoyed and tired, but hey the show must go on.

The good thing is you got the number plate, the car description and DNA. It should be a fairly simple conviction for plod to take action on.

Post 126295 by Vikingxl on 2006-07-17 21:39:15

Unlucky mate sorry to hear it!

Post 126367 by S40xs on 2006-07-17 22:33:02

Just out of camera shot of the cctv footage (AGAIN) Window is getting replaced Wednesday afternoon. Rather than pay the £250 excess, loose 2 years no claims i've decided to pay the £60 excess for the window and not claim for the satnav unit meaning its comming out of my back pocket because in the long run it works out more expensive for me to claim. Now how pants is that. Cueball, got your number mate not had chance to give you a bell as i've had to another thing that needed attention.

Post 126474 by Ryan_pat on 2006-07-18 03:41:09

you have the reg plate, for the right money you can trace them. find them, take it back, take there mondeo, give them a good kicking, and then another one for good luck!
you have the reg plate, for the right money you can trace them. find them, take it back, take there mondeo, give them a good kicking, and then another one for good luck!
The problem there is, the police know what details i have. I turn up at one of their gaffs threaten them/kick the crap out of them and take what ever i want from them then it will be them who become the victims and once again its little old me that looses out. I do like the idea as it would be the quickest & easiest way of getting my gear back but at present its not going to happen.

Post 126503 by S40xs on 2006-07-18 11:11:29

On some sad news, i think this will spell the end of my S40 to me. The car will more than likely be for sale soon.

Post 126506 by Baj on 2006-07-18 11:31:42

Keep us posted. If they left blood the chances are they will be caught. I strongly suspect they have done this sort of thing before.

Post 126515 by DONKEYT5 on 2006-07-18 12:17:32

well every cloud etc..... now is your chance to get a t5!!

Post 126544 by S40xs on 2006-07-18 13:10:58
Keep us posted. If they left blood the chances are they will be caught. I strongly suspect they have done this sort of thing before.
The reg plate handed over to the police was either incorrectley noted down or the car had false plates. More than likey false plates - but i didn't hold much hope for the plates in the first place. So lets hope they have a dna match on record test results should take 7-10 days or so. I'm thinking of going down the route of a company car so it may not even be a Volvo, just having a shop around now. In my heart i don't want to move away from Volvo but it may come to that.

Post 126569 by dreadly on 2006-07-18 13:57:07

If it's of any consolation to you, if the police don't pick them up for this particular crime, sooner or later they will get a DNA sample and they WILL pay for what they have done. The worst one is where they break into the house and nick yer keys and the car and then your insurance tries not paying up!!!

Post 126766 by Baj on 2006-07-19 01:09:11

Yeah, your insurance wont pay if they used the keys, no matter how they got them. Think yourself lucky. The insurance ran out on my Landy. I was financially short at the time and was umming about whether to sell it or keep it. The day before I got payed, about a fortnight after the insurance ran out, I came out to find it gone. I am 2 grand down on the deal and my plod couldnt care less. If they see it in a ditch they'll let me know but as it was a collectable lightweight it is either in bits all round the country or the gypos have it.

I reckon he hasn't tried Chocolate. Apparantly they are bringing the D5 into the V50 soon, that will chip to 210bhp and will be mega! - I may get one of these :) - I reckon it will be a T5 beater...

same thing happened to one of our reps last week, satnav on the dash, 4am they smashed the window and made off with everything in the car, literally looked like it had been valetted!! nicked everything including his suit in the car for an overnight the next day, laptop, undies(!) and his four year old flipflops....? ..andy is freakishly tall though so we're on the lookout for some gimp in a suit obviously too tall for him and flipflops :mischievo it's not funny though, these gits should be strung up.

But cacky grudds, a suit and flip flops - these guys are more scummy than sewer rats.

Had an update from the police regarding the break in; The mondeo seen driving away from my place was caught 2 days later and impounded. The blood taken from my Volvo had a positive match on the police database. This morning Police arrested and booted his front door in of the owner of the blood left on the car and its looks/sounds (message passed on to me by a colleague) that my SatNav/PDA unit has been recovered. They are checking to match the serial number of the pda unit to one of those recovered. I'll keep you guys posted as soon as the police call me back!

Result!!!, congrats mate, I hope it is yours they've found. I had mine nicked at work the other day, when I say mine I actually mean the one I have at work for my truck. Went to a garage in Salford to pick some cars up and forgot to lock the passenger door, came back five minutes later to find all my stuff on the floor, door open and the satnav gone!. Could have been much worse as my bag was in the cab with my Ipod and my car keys inside it!, trouble now is my boss has said he's not replacing it!!!, ah well back to the stone age and maps again!.

Cheers Mate, couldnt agree more. When I told the garage they told me that they'd had three others stolen that same week, two of which where taken from locked wagons. Apparently they drive around on bikes and smash and grab the satnavs.
