ASA Nancy 1/8th mile Sprint - Sunday 7th March 2010, 16:33

Went for it in the T5 again this year and came in 11th in a field of 38.
Got revenge on a few that beat me last year...in particular a tricked out, caged, sprint prepped R5 GT Turbo. He did a tyre warm up (pah!) and my dear old T5 thrashed the pants off him- it was excellent and must have hurt

French folk really underestimate the power of the Volvo lol

Ran a 9.71, which isn't the best time I've had on the 1/8th but still a great crack. Will post up a couple of vids/ pics in the next day or two

website link for those interested
http://max.meeting.free.fr/

Video links: apologies for the wind noise! At the start the kids in the hot hatches are ahead or level due to the T5 autos rubbish starting line capabilities...by the end I was anywhere from 1-3 (Volvo) car lengths ahead

Thanks mate

Not well usually...just sometimes a power start does the job
Not recommended though- destroyed a transmission last year!

cough cough... me? power start? never!!!
Actually mate it's most likely going to be the T5's last competitive outing as I'll have a new secret weapon (oooer missus) in the summer....all will be revealed in due course

My fastest 1/8th has been 9.539 but, it was shortly afterwards that the transmission pegged out. Gotta face facts, the slushbox is a bag of sh**e on these cars if you don't treat it gently and with respect lol

Most probably an AMG mate, sorry please forgive me, but I desperately NEED a V8 buddy doctor's orders and all that! My missus would like me to get an Evo but they just shout "look at me" as far as I'm concerned! Not that fond of them tbh.
I'll keep the V70 and may well do what you've done with yours...strip it out and then start to use it on the strip again; fun project to say the least mate.
Haha an AMG trailering a V70 to the strip, cool or what lol

ah atleast the Merc will only be a temporary thing till the V70 is gutted lol, suppose it'd be alright as a tow car (just lol)

i've never been a fan of 4x4 either, had my bro's old VR4 for a week & altho there was no doubt it was quick it was boring & to easy to control

LOL!!!!!
Reason I'm keeping the T5 is because it's very unlikely I'll be able to sell it here due to it being RHD. Unless you're interested

Nice motors those VR4s

It's not the 4x4 bit that bothers me, we get serious winters here: like this last UK winter, but every year, so 4x4 would be useful at times!
Scoobys, evos etc just beg to (1) get you pulled randomly and (2) get nicked or vandalised etc; prefer stealth machines that are just understated. E55 W210 is yet another one of those, will prob remove the AMG badging mate!

Hi Bob, yes mate that would have been great
It is really good fun and I've made quite a few friends there with like minded car nuts!
Another at the beginning of October and I'll email the Bitburg dates to you in case you can make it to one of those meets.
Hope you get to UK all right buddy!
