    Latest Volvo sat nav DVD?

    Hi,

Where is the best place to source the most up-to-date Volvo satellite navigation DVD disk? Ours must be about 4-5 years old now. Does it have to be bought from a Volvo dealer (will that cost a fortune?) or are there any contacts on the forum who may know better?

    Many thanks.

I have an 03 V70 (actually 2004 model year) but the DVD is late 2002 for the satnav. Last time I asked Volvo it was around £200 for update DVD but since then I've read many reports (on this forum and others) of users applying this update DVD and the whole unit becomes u.s. due to a missing firmware update. So I've left mine on the basis its better working out of date than being dead. I'm not actually keen on paying a Volvo dealer to do this just yet but if I do I will make sure they know the Sat Nav is working at the start.. maybe even get them to sign to acknowlege this. So if they b****r it when updating, then they can pay to fix all the bits they break! Good luck!

i got to say i've never heard of a problem like that, i've certainly never seen any reports from volvo technical on this. if you say its happened then i wont doubt you but like i said its not something i've ever come across personally. Ive supplied countless sets of update disks and never had any problems reported.

if you do decide to get the latest genuine disks from volvo i supply them a fair bit cheaper than retail price, off the top of my head its around £155 all in, including special delivery. if anyone needs an exact price send me a PM. i will take a look into the firmware issue in the morning if i remember it, in the volvo technical journals, to see of any reported issues.

    I have an S80 2002.

i did buy the disks from Volvo and tried to install them (in the car park of the dealership because I was excited)

The disk however could not be read. I used the cleaning disk that came with the pack but it still said cannot read disk. These disks were supposed to have the updated firmware on them. I went straight back in and told them and the chief mechanic came out, tried the disks in a newer volvo they had in the showroom and it worked fine, then put it back in mine and it still didnt work. he tried to blame my reader so I put my old disk back in and it worked straight away. I got a refund and they said they would look into it.

Later that day I called them and they said they had been in touch with someone and this is a known issue so my only option would be to buy an earlier version of the disk (that would of been late 2006 at that time as it was the first disk of 2007 a bought)

I managed to get the prieviuos version from ebay but still the same error.

So be careful if buying the disks as Volvo (Bradford) admitted to me that it is not supported at this time.

I was pretty F*%^ed off as you can imagine.

    Thumbs up

I got mine from Rufe - chucked it straight in to the DVD player and the upgrade happened automagically.

The car no longer thinks its driving through fields, and recognises the M6 toll.

If in doubt have a chat with Rufe and see what he thinks.

    Sat Nav problem

I disconnected battery to remove and clean ETM.. ongoing saga but this finally seems ot have sorted it! So I'm really happy BUT when reconnecting battery all was fine until I tried to use Sat NAv... it comes up sayng disc is unreadable! I haven't done anythign with the unit except of course disconnect battery for 20-30 mins. The car had been standing for 10-15 mis after parking and left unlocked so I could be sure as hand book says that all settings were stored. Only thin i hadto do was re-set the time clock so what can I do should I have done? Is this going to cost me £££'s?

one step forward, one step back... not dancing lessons, Volvo ownership!

I have had exactly the same problem with my sat nav. Two garages have said that the disk is the problem, but this is based on the error message provided by the unit. I have cleaned the unit, and tried a different disk and it still doesn't work. A new disk will be over £180 and Volvo will not take it back if it is not successful.

I wondered if it was a problem with the software in the unit itself

    Hammy,

I know it sounds daft but I assume this includes UK? Just that some have Europe excluding the UK...does anyone know if you can use any disc on any volvo? I have a 2001 C70....if these would work I may be interested.

Where on the south coast are you? I'm in Worthing area - hence thought might be able to pick them up.

Bought my 2010 dvd disks from dealer for £165. Piece of wee wee to install. Just follow on screen instructions. Top tip!! Make sure your engine is running before you do it. It can take a while and if the battery goes flat during install it could crash and then you may have problems reinstalling.

Hi,Thinking of upgrading power in my 2003 V70R(Flash Green, Atacama Leather). I'm tempted to go powerflow exhaust and remap, already go power filter, what else can be done? How many bhp does yours run? Can the engine and gearbox take power upgrade fine(don't want any more repairs)
Also got problems with sat nav, saying cannot read disk - what can be done?
My sunroof doesn't work due to message alarm system service required , do you know of any fix?
    Cheers
