there used to be a thread for peoples best 1/4mile times on here perhaps that can be resusitated (inless it was lost in the big crash). Be good if we could have a basic description of modifications as well

Absolutely mate! Nice to know what others are running (mods wise) to get their times

Ordered my new front discs (EBC) and yellow stuff pads yesterday- badly needed!
My new/old (80k) box on the way too, thanks to S70T5Chris having a 50-42LE in his lock-up.
Also getting in touch with Andy Gray RED VICTOR RACING regards a built trans/ torque convertor. I'm sure with the right gear ratios and torque convertor I can knock a load off my 1/4s
Whether it's affordable is another question tho!

tbh i'd cancel the discs, i've gone thru several sets of EBC discs they just crack up. The pads are good tho

Are they really that bad mate? Think I'll give em a go anyway, these cars eat front tyres and brakes so they'll prob need renewing in a years time lol

I'll see what Mr Gray says about cost before I get too excited mate!

i'm not exactly a heavy braker but both the normal & driller/grooved discs cracked. They actually exchanged the originals & upgraded me to the drilled/grooved for free becuase they were that bad

might be a good idea, you could always swop to a proper gearbox if you keep eating auto's

oooooh that's a bit worrying I'm not heavy on the brakes either. What do you have fitted at the mo mate?

haha I'm tender and caring with my autos
I always thought autos were the best for drag racing

maybe I can get a TH400 modified to fit the T5. Chevy box on Volvo!

can't remember what make they are but got them from GSF, gone for plain discs this time

they are for your bracket racing, give alot more consistant times. Aren't the power loses alot more compared to a manual tho?

it might be possible, i'm not sure how easy it is on auto boxes tho. I know the VW boys tend to be pretty good at mixing & matching gearboxes & engines by making adaptor plates. My bro's old van had a Ford V6 mated to the original VW box

Cheers, I'll bear that in mind if the EBCs die

Thats quite true- most of the big yank muscle appears to use autos, although they are made for drag racing. The losses are pretty big from what I've heard.

Having thought about it a bit more, I don't know if a TH or similar would work as they're for rear wheel drive
Besides that, it's taking the car towards not being a T5 anymore; if I do that I may as well chuck in a V8, turn it to RWD, build a space frame and just put the V70 body on top. Kinda defeats the object of the exercise even though it'd be great fun!
