    Smile Wheelspin!

I have just got a 1998MY V70 T5 manual after having driven my 850 T5 auto for the last three and a half years.
When accelerating hard from about 30 mph in second the wheels spin! I know these are quick cars but is this normal or are the tyres (Pirelli P6000 with plenty of tread on) not up to the job?

It is great fun by the way!!

You may have some component wear too, track rod ends etc. A 4 wheel laser alignment and good tyres should help. The weighty V70 does take some moving though!

The manual and autos are night and day. The auto would have had a torque limiter thats why your spinning so much with the manual. Wegal may be rite with the tires too.
    Thanks

After the auto I think its brilliant to be able to do this. My 15 year old son thinks its a laugh too. His mates are really surprised that a Volvo can perform like this.

However the wife is not too impressed!

What he said, seconded. Why anyone pays the amount that is charged and chooses to fit these tyres, is beyond me. Been using my folks' V50 this week which has them fitted and christ are they noisy, never mind grip....

I agree, if they were half the price, then they would be ok but for what they cost, they are pants.

I've got naff el'cheapo rubber on my 15" rims. It'll spin whenever I put my toe down, Up to about 50. also rattles and wobbles around 50, but i can kind of accelerate out of it? I want to change tyre and was looking at pirelli, but after reading the above statements, not too sure. Can anyone recommend decent tyres for the V70?

I'v always thought that avons were a good compromise between price and performance.

great tyres but the downside is both are very soft compound hence the grip levels so wear out very fast.

i run toyo proxes on the front of my racer for tarmac events now and in two meetings of very hard driving they are nearly bald. have had fantasic grip from them though even more so than a michelin i have tried.

back on subject if car is wheel spinning that easy maybe check tyre pressure's as may be over inflated causing this problem. as well as already mentioned wear in joints etc.

i personally rate conti tyres but seems lots on here never mention them
because it just had to be done
