I had a pm on the 28 july from Dublint5, pretty sure I asked you at the time if it was ok to post it to Ireland Al.

**Scrap that. I've just checked and I sent KnightRider a pm on the 29th asking him for his details so I could post it on**

Now it's gone quiet maybe we can find out where the doohickey is and get it off and running like the Ouslem bird I'm sure our needy members will be happy.

We don't need one I forked out for one and as yet haven't used it yet. Mind you Christine's dash comes up with a full house of lights quite often. The scary one when it first happened was "Brake failure stop safely ASAP". Had the brakes checked and there's nothing wrong. But you can't use cruise on the motorway after it lights up.

I have a feeling Martin knows what this is
“If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as the souls who live under tyranny.” Thomas Jefferson (1778)

Did you know the EU says that you can't claim that drinking water prevents dehydration. So now you know for sure what many of have known for years that the EU is run by a bunch of nutters.

Uh-oh! has it gotten worse? is it doing a fruit machine jackpot thing? or are you just getting the brake failure warning still?

Depends on how she feels, no two days are the same. Brake failure pops up some days. STC Service required is another, it's never the same. And it's not worth changing the dash unit, I'd rather part ex her for a newer model.

If you're getting "jackpot" lights and info screen corruption, missing or corrupt temp, clock saying "--.--" then I would be suspicious of the DIM but if it's mainly going on about ABS and Spin control I'd be more interested in the abs unit.
It's not gonna cost you what it cost me to sort your DIM, if that is the problem. Yours is, as yet, unfettled and therefore you could take it to a mobile phone/tv repair shop and get the motorolla chip resoldered for about 30 quid.
    Worth a thought.
Although I can understand why you're thinking of part-ex-ing the cow, we all have to draw the line somewhere and since yours is still passable as a working model, it might be worth getting rid while you can. BUT... better the devil you know...

Arrow Chase the phantom code reader ..good game ,good game!

    Hi, try the software below:

    http://www.directdownload.bz/Scan-xl-new.exe

Please follow the instructions for installation. when you get to the registration section enter your name and organisation (!!organisation must be entered!! - you can put your car make or nickname). Then enter the details below exactly including the [ ] and the hyphen - best to copy and paste it in

    Customer ID: [*13250620*]

    Licence Key: FFFFFFFF-108BBEE954BB7E481715FACB

    or try this different software:

    http://www.directdownload.bz/temp.html

    serial number 1995012114095466084

    I bought an http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ELM-327-US...item19cf499f60

And used my laptop to clear my problem after trying several free programs its up to you which one works best for you. Try them out.
If you get the "which port to use" just read up on it on google or phone the helpline that comes with the reader. A few of the programs automatically source a port to connect with car.

These might give you detailed results if you have a OBD 20pin port on your 850 I have a P1 1998 V70 2.5LPT and it worked for me ..

For less than Ł20 can you be bothered to play chase the reader, Looks Like its long gone , good luck Kim

I have an engine management light on and the display comes up with "Emissions Service Required" and "Alarm Service Required" - will the code reader identify what is wrong with these (and put the lights out) on my 2000 reg'd S80??
If so, can I borrow it next please???
    Thank you.

You might be better asking if there is someone local to you who doesn't mind you plugging into theirs, for a beer token or two.

    True,
I think I'm going down Kim's route. I've just downloaded the program that HE (she) has posted and it looks good, so with a cheep Elm 327 reader, could have a bit of fun with it.
    Joe.

    Edited after put right..lol.
