they are on the inside for the conns to the matrix etc.
Not sure about engine side but Haymnes manual was pretty obvious. I would strat with that and ask again if it still dont make sense. Its a funny push fit connector IIRC.
Not that funny actually when you skin your knuckles.

I might have a pair here, but you won't get them until next Wednesday at the earliest.

Make your own heater hose replacement. Follow this LINK

I followed the instruction on using a dremel with a cutting wheel to slit open the crimp and it works. If you are going to get used hoses from the yards t owork on be sure to get the correct ones as the NA and turbo heater hose connectors are shaped differently.

No, you need to release the plastic snap locks attached to the hose connector. Have a look at the heater hose O-ring replacement kit which you will need when replacing the hoses. If you just pull off the hoses with force you may break a plastic section of the bulkhead where the hoses connect to.

If its the ones in the engine bay, and they look like this...

Grab the collar, push the connector in and rotate the collar anticlockwise about 30 degrees. It should just pull off. Give both the male and female sides of the connection a good clean and re-fit, turning the collar clockwise to lock. Mine used to leak and it turned out to be a bit of gunk upsetting the seal.
