    M66D in a 850 and a top speed of 220 mph

After spending a slightly damp but very enjoyable Saturday morning at HLM dyno day myself and Steve went to Solihull and collected a M66D gearbox.

As you can see from pedro`s image with the M66D ratios it could give me a top speed of 220+ mph.

(well you could if pedro hadn`t removed the image)

When in 6th gear at the moment 80pmh = 3000rpm but with the M66D 80mph will be a little over 2000rpm.

I`m aware at that rpm I`m not in the "power band" but if I need to knock it down to 4th to get in the "power band" then thats no hardship.

As someone who's mapped launch control into his car but refuses to actually launch it, why are you looking at 220mph gear ratios too?

I`m not looking to do 220mph, I`m looking at more curising speed against rpm.

I`ve got to do somthing to get my average mpg from 19

A Lotus Carlton has a similar gear ratio to that box and they can only maintain speed in 6th they can't accelerate regardless of whether they're in the power band or not...

Fair play though it will certainly help with your mpg although I fear that is more to do with other issues not centred around gear ratios. My auto ticks along at 2,400 at 70 and that achieved 35 mpg on yesterday's run and that's tuned with greens.

2000rpm at 80mph sounds good to me, for some reason going over 3000 rpm rockets the fuel consumption

You mean high up the mph I.e flat out, mine is slightly harder geared in 6th 238mph, but easily accelerates in 6th on the motorway. But obviously if making headway you'd drop it down a few gears.

the M66D has the highest top-end, so guessing you've done your own calculations with a bigger tyre?

my gearbox has a higher top-end than the M66D in the 5 gears it has got

No, I`m running a file that has been tested, It`s just a case of fine tuning the injector tables to suit my setup.
