    I`ve had 11 Volvos in 2 years and still can`t find the fuel cap so I sell them before run out of petrol lol

    I've got a few in the pipeline mate, the mate I thought I could rely on has run a mile so it looks like it's me & my bro in law in his garage. Cheers though dude, it's crap living away from most of the action but I'd miss our roads & views if I lived darn sarf where the volvo's seem popular.

    It's sometimes this forums downfall, being an x moderator on a forum it's one of my pet hates spamming a topic with an argument that's old news. Banter maybe & sometimes it's funny but when your valuing peoples opinions the bottom line is are they really going to read through the drivel for the technical aspect?

    Anyway back on topic, Took the car to work today, making full use of my mot. Love the ferrodo's now they're bedded in. Noise has got no louder or quieter, no oil use after nearly 70 miles since it happened, no smoke or any other symptoms.
    I've not had chance to video it yet, if I think on I'll do it when I get petrol in the morning.
    You can drive on a Bent rod, you may well find the noise goes after a while, usually the tapping is the rod hitting the skirt of the piston as it goes up and down, this eventually gets worn away and the noise obviously goe's. BUT.... be warned as its wearing the skirt away all the metal swarf is going into the oil and around the crank the bearings could pick up some of this swarf and start wearing the crank and other components.

    Or the rod could actually fail totally probably exiting the block front or rear possible both as ive seen this happen lol

    Mate after working in Toyota & stripping some of the warranty claims I know it won't be pretty!
    That's why I think I'm better changing the lot & not chasing the problem. Plus it means I can tart up my new engine while I hunt a single mass flywheel & think I'm going to go for an 850r clutch.

    sorry Biff it wasnt ment to be in anyway detrimental or condescending just thought id explain what could or may happen to a engine with a bent rod for those peeps who may not understand the internals of engines,

    If it helps, when photo-bucket is back up again, I'll post a picture of the area of the conrod that was hitting and the sound it was making after I bent a rod so you can compare it to the noise you have now

    That would be great Andy, even if it's not bent I'm thinking it's the little end. We used to bet coffees in Toyota. Lol. I won a few!
    Gav I'm sorry I know you didn't mean that in that way, cracking explanation though mate. I've seen a piston head take out an oil pump. It was awesome for me as it wasn't mine. Lol

    This is the marking on the crank from the rod..



    This is the sound it made, you could hear it better on the camera with the bonnet down which causes the noise to resound off the garage floor and walls, when the bonnet is lifted you can only really hear the noise of the injectors...

    How is it done tho bent rods is it cheap boost controll or to much boost or boost spike.
    As some all of u know I don't have forge rods in my motor and its on its 2nd engine now running 1.3 to 1.5 or am I live on borrowed time!
