    Another led thread

OK, for the 'info' lcd bit on the bottom of the dash & all the switches...
How do I change the bulbs from the funny teeny twisty standard bulbs to nice 'white/blue' led bulbs? Can they be bought as a straight swap? Or is it a total mission trying to fabricate/bodge some?
.....sooper moose. '97 850R manual. Yum yum.

i looked into getting a set of v70 clocks then buying a seperate boost gauge and fitting it to a post

ive seen a thread on here where sum 1 has changed his bulbs to red and blue ill do a search

also : do you still have the pollen filter and casing for sale??

You can get just the led bulbs, or led bulb and fitting.
Just the bulb is cheaper. £4 approx for 10 from eeebay.
Take the original bulbs out of the cluster and wrap a bit of gaffa tape round the glass bit leaving a tale of tape. then, just pull the tale and the bulb pops out of the plastic holder.
Replace the bulb with the new LED (using some 1000 grade sandpaper, rough the surface of the LED to give it a less focused beam, allowing it to illuminate the sides aswell as just above it).
Put the bulbs back in and plug - in the cluster and turn the ignition on. You will probably find some of them won't work straight away. take them out of the cluster and rotate them 180 degrees and put them back in. LED's are polarity sensitive, unlike filament bulbs, so they have to be round the right way.
    Enjoy.

For the switches I bought some 3mm blue diffused leds a few years back and did a DIY job on them. Was a bit fiddly as I had to put resistors with them, but the results were great.

As you can see the 3mm LED fits perfect through the existing bulb holder holes.

Got my LEDs from ebay member Goodwill, and have bought lots of LEDs from him since (and he provides free resistors).

Blue LEDs will give you an overall blue glow, whereas white LEDs will give off a light blue glow.

I have the blue LEDs in mine, the problem was that the blue LED does not go well with the red elements on the clocks and the heater control panel. A white LED would be better if you wanted them to show up better.

I'll try and find a pic of my blue dash.

Speedo head bulbs are 194's I think. Just bought some red ones from ebay.
Wouldn't mind knowing the type used in the switches if anyone knows?

Here's the link to the red ones anyway. Supposed to give a "softer" beam rather than a spot due to the design.

Is there a green filter you have to take out? All the standard bulbs are clear glass.

Led's overpower the green filter. Except red led's they go a bit dull through the filter (I know).

The filter is actually blue because the normal bulb has a yellowy glow thus producing a green light.
