Dave loving the build so far wish i had the your patience to do all that polishing, the end result does look good though. Hopefully we we will see each other at a meet at somepoint again once my own 400 break beasts mapping is all finished,I'm currently in the tweaking phase to ea the most out of the garrett.

The bilsteins were bought new and fitted 2009. The springs are a bit older but still in good condition. You can probably find the exact details in this thread. I think they are about 60- 70K miles in overall wear. Car shows 176K miles at the moment - they were fitted just after it hit 6 figures IIRC.
Edit - sorry but the 1st post on this thread is after they were fitted.

OK. They're going to be a bit old for me I think - cheers for the message anyway
2 months further down and progress has been debilitatingly slow due primarily with delays on the new closed deck block. The donor block had a broken headbolt down one of the holes. Following its removal the ARP stud would not tighten up so more work has been done to fix the problems. I have been assured that the block will be ready this week and the cylinder head/block will be returned to me fully assembled.
In the meantime I have not been idle. I have refurbed the WP 6 pot BBK that will go onto the front. I have also had Zircotec wave their magic fingers over the hotside and exhaust manifold. Also my parts list has grown - usual suspects - PVC system, expansion tank & PAS tank will all be refreshed and my sexy new ITG enclosed filter has arrived (125mm inlet, 102 mm Outlet - good for 600bhp).

And today my new sparco 4 point harnesses arrived to compliment the new cobra seats going in. Planning to use a harness bar, with a stripped interior (removed rear seats). The dash will be retained and so will the ICE. This will be a road-legal TDM, however due to the changes in MOT - it seems that you either have to remove all SRS or have it all working - no missing bulbs etc.
I do with to retain the front 3 point inertia reel seat belts, just so it is easier to use.

I sorry to here of your delays along the way, but it has at least allowed you enough time to solve your Rubik's Cube....
Great update Dave and some real progress, really like the Zircotec coated parts. Did the head stud that wouldn't tighten need heli-coiling to make good, just asking as I've a block here that I have a broken stud to extract from it, fingers crossed it comes out without further remedial work being necessary.

Shem's engineers have removed the broken stud and I believe a threaded insert will be used to make good the hole. I have been assured that it will be stronger than new, but only time will tell.
I have been able to solve the rubics cube for about 4 years now, as the original picture when the GTX landed will show.

done it once and left it like it.....lol
Heli-coil inserts are great, we use them regularly at work where the monkeys strip out the threads by over tightening or cross threading, then drill out and tap, wind in the coil insert and bob's your uncle all good again, should give just as good clamping force as a normal thread.

I guessing it will be a threaded hole down the centre of a threaded bar that will then be screwed into the block that has had the hole drilled and tapped bigger.
Power station stuff, but is a good strong fix.
Love the progress, just read most of it from the start, mainly just skimming to the pics!
