I have spare keys and barrels etc if you want them. I realise this will mean having a different key to start and open doors with.

We had a similar problem with a golf might not be of any use but here goes. The little flap that drops over the hole when you remove the key was sticking and as it was part of the security system it was stopping the ignition working. As i said might not help but may be worth a quick look.

    Cool

I had a problem with my ingnition, when I bought my V70R last year, the key would sometime just keep rotating in the barrel, Replaced the barrel completely, cost was about £120.

As it's all part of the security system you will need to take your log book to the stealer for them to order one from volvo, they keep a record of all cars keys/security systems and you'll get a new barrel to match your existing keys, the key's have a chip which codes every time you remove it from the barrel.

Also be aware that the casing that the barrel is part of is fitted with shear off bolts, for security, I had to drill my one off(took about 2.5 hours, car thiefs beware), There may be a tool for getting the bolts out, but didn't know that It needed one till I had striped it all down.

    Hope this helps
