After spaen a couple of hours changing Steve`s V70R front discs, pads and drop links I thought I`d make a start on the rust hole in the N/S seal.
What looked like a small hole got very big very quickly.
I ended up having to cut out and patching both inner and outer seals. I need to go over them with a thin coat of filler just it blend the repair in.
But I`ve now got a even bigger hole to fill

this may help rob, in the old days we used to use steel trailer mudguards turned upside down to repair wheelwells, just need a bit of trimming to fit.

Nice to see you back buddy, I know you've been living in the workshop fixing up the car.
Had a great start this morning, first job fit new head light bulb to V50, brought new bulb from Moral World, fitted bulb and went to test the bulb and the piece of Ford cr@p would start !!!!! Phoned Steve who very kindly poped over with Vida and read the fault codes all 40+ of them the last 3 codes where to do with a ECM communication problem, cleared the codes and still wouldn`t start, It turned over but wouldn`t fire but after a few minutes of trying to start you could smell petrol. So I cranked it over with my foot flat on the floor and it fired up. I`ve been starting it all afternoon and it`s been ok, Bloody Ford £$%&
Once the V50 was sorted I cracked on with welding up the spare wheel well.
Had a go at trying to get the fuel sender out, It was covered in rust and £$%&, cleaned it off and it came out no problems. Result.
The sender is £$%&ed which isn`t a problem as I`m fitting a injestion sender.
Inside the tank I was inspecting to find some the same sludge as I found in the carb but no there was about 3 inches of 10+ year petrol which needs to be removed or mixed with some fresh petrol.

I`ve been doing some research in to the 240 injection fuel pump set up.
The 240 uses a in tank pump then another pump under the rear seats to pump the fuel to the injector rail @ 3bar.
Trying to get hold of a external fuel pump and cradle is like looking rocking horse cr@p.
So I`m going to go down the route of fitting a 850 fuel pump in the tank which will pump the fuel to the injector rail @ 3bar so no need for the external pump, I`ll put the fuel filter in the engine bay where it can be got at easily.
The only problem with the 850 fuel pump it is fatter than the 240 one so it`ll be a bit of a squeeze to get it the tank.

Got an old discovery now.
As she is a early 80's model the speedo is driven off of the gearbox, but the 940 gets it speedo drive from the back axle. So to fit a 940 engine and box I'd have to also fit a late 240 axle and instruments. This could be a right can of worms that I dont to open.
I'm not looking to get massive amounts of bhp (150ish) out of it so I'm going to tune the B21A engine by fitting twin webers 45 DCOE`s and a tubular exhaust.
After spendings hours of searching I`ve found a place in Germany that make tubular manifolds for £220, The bit that`s really going to sting are the carbs £250 EA + manifold £200 and linkage £80 but it`s all old skool bolt on.
I`ve also been looking into high flow heads and high lift cams, the head to get is the 100405 with its cam. So I`ll be on the look at later for that head in the breakers. The plan is to get the car on the road for the summer. (All going well)

Twin Webers or Throttle bodies from a motorbike... Along with RWD this has potential to be great fun, enjoying the thread!

I'm just thinking about the fiesta we saw at the Uxbridge RR day. Had a ST170 engine with bike carbs on it. Made over 200bhp and the noise was biblical!

I wont be going down the throttle body route as this means I`ll need fuel injection and a ecu.
As for motorbike carbs, I don`t no of a 4 cylinder 2.1 ltr motorbike running carbs
This is why I`m going down the tried and tested route of weber 45`s
I had a ford sierra which I ran twin 45`s and it roared on full chat and went like the clappers

Wasn't the Z2300 running carbs?
Any hoo... I was just chucking the idea out there
