another problem boost related

when pulling hard i get to around 4k and the car seems to drop boost pressure, really harshly. Its like stamping on the brakes.

If I keep my foot down it happens again, not let it do it more than twice for fear of damaging something.

If I drop down to bring it above 5.5k it boosts up fine.

it doesn't always do it and doesn't throw a code, other than system to lean at idle p2187, which pops up every now and then but only as a pending code.


Any ideas people?

The only thing I can find on google for same sort of fault never seems to get answered.

Car is fitted with ipd tcv, Could this be a possibility

sounds like boost cut, what pressure are you getting (if you have a gauge that is) ??

If it's an R or a facelift T5 (can't remember what car you have - sorry) then there's a fuel pressure sensor on the end of the fuel rail (nearside) that's known to play up and do weird things to performance.
Alternatively, it could be overboosting and the ECU is protecting the engine by cutting the throttle. You could also have a dodgy boost pressure sensor.

Have you got it plugged into Vida yet?

its a face lift model, so the 2.4t5.

fps is about 6 months old volvo jobie

not got gauge in it a min but will be popping it back in to have a look.

just took the ote pipe of and found this. hhhmmmmm seems my metal "ring peace" is not there.

im betting this could be my problem, maf reading x amount but it must be leaking so car cuts boost??

that happened on my T-5R the day before it was due on the rolling road. the metal ring will probably have shot further up inside the pipe, you may be able to fish it back, I was lucky and replaced mine with a spare one I had lying about

been of work for a week and back on a saturday, shaking is mandatory lol

had a look down the pipe and found the ring, been cut. Must of come out before so some one has cut it to make it fit back.

Sure that's up on their terms and conditions, but what guaranteed do they give you & can you take it back and complain if it won't work.
