IIRC,the standard TT map should be similar to original ECU

maybe there are some other problems?

It was running on a tweaked tuned map, think it just needs retuning, hopefully.

Could well have other problems, but you can't heard much about the turbo!

I'm pretty sure it has an air leak somewhere, going to spend the day trying to find it, in between the boil up sessions!

Another update! This is getting bad!

Found the surging problem, it does have an air leak, the vac tree is broken, also, the throttle link bar between the drum and the body was setting wrong, worked fine on the standard sized body, but mine has been bored out and fitted with a flap with no plastic wedge.

We found out this by clamping the pipe between the IAC and the tree, the engine should have died or bogged down, it did neither! She now idles about 900rpm

As for the boiling up, this seems to be improved, probably because its no longer ticking over at 2000rpm, also did some investigating, since I have owned the car, I've never heard the cooling fan kick in, yet its never overheated

Checked the relay, no power getting to it, after a few hours of faffing, and chasing wires, we found the power feed wasn't connected to the starter motor, it was bolted to the engine, we think because its grey at that end and not red, it looks like a earth terminal, the wire changes to red inside the plastic loom trunking.

Also found a couple of corroded wires going into the relays by the radiator, put it all back together and the fan kicks in now! Water still gets high, but I think it needs settle down now and fine its own level.

It does sound good ticking over, nice deep burble to the exhaust note.

I feel more positive about it, Andy took her for a scoot around the yard, she goes really well

Thanks for the offer, I have a spare tree, but I will be needing your help, she will not run on the TT eu at all, coughs and bangs, major over-fueling, can you pop over with your laptop please?

Nope, not touched it, though, it was running for 15minutes outside today, and only 2 drips of oil on the floor.

Another small update, due to a lack of mojo for the thing! Any progress is now pretty much halted till at lest till after the show season, though I will drag it to a couple of show, where it can sit and look pretty.

Probably feel better about it once I've taken it to a couple of shows. It runs, just not much in the braking department at the momet

Well, I had to really drag this up from the murky depths of the VPC ocean of threads! lol

Finally fixed the boiling problem, it was the top hose! Wasn't fitted quite right, the loop in it was too high and caused an airlock, moved it slightly, we go a hiss as the air escaped and the coolant dropped, been fine ever since

Next problem, was the ECU, it didn't like the TT I had for it, we could not get it to run right, kept popping and banging no matter how we set it it, ran fine on the stock ecu, but, that couldn't cope with the GT30 turbo, so, I bought Blackbeast's ecu from his V70, he had the same turbo.

Plus, it meant I could upgrade to 4.4 control however, the ecu had an immobilizer, thanks to Dangerous Dave, this was removed, and he added a few other tweaks, like configuring the map for my injectors (Deka 630cc)

It brings me to this stage:

No Dave, I still haven't fixed the leak!

Nice one Paul, interesting to hear you've been having issues with the TT, mine has recently been giving me some gyp, I've just had my map flashed to a normal R ecu as I can't be doing with a temperamental ecu spoiling my fun
