So I thought I'd start a little thread that I can update as and when I do things to my 850R.
Whilst I sort final prices on the mechanical side of things (bushes, engine mount and the usual wear and tear things - brakes etc) I had a few hours spare on the weekend so I thought I'd have a little look at the paintwork and see what I can do by hand.
So I got my trusting detailing kit out of the garage - brushed of the dust (I've been car-less for nearly 3 months) and set about panel by panel seeing what I can do.
I gave each panel a wash using a more concreted wash mix than I normally do and then realising I'd run out of clay thought I'd go straight to a easy grade polish and see what happens. I thought depending on the results of just one coat I'll know how much effort I need to be put into it.
I managed 3 panels and the boot lid before it chucked it down with rain, but with only two coats of polish I was quite impressed. Hopefully you can see from the pics the difference. The photos aren't great.
This is just one coat
I didn't do the front wing as its rusty so will be replacing that.
Not bad for polishing, I cant wait until I can clay it, polish including swirl removing, wax and seal it - its going to look great. I'm a bit scared by the expanse of bonnet and roof tho!
