03 V70 R AWD - to gas or not to gas that is the question

I have a V70R AWD 03 plate with 123K on the clock. I love this car but damn is she thirsty (getting 26 mpg average). She's in great condition, lovely to drive and can really roll as we know. Photos in my garage if you need to look.

I am very interested to hear experience, thoughts, prices etc etc etc on gassing her and then keeping for the longer term.

Throwing it open to the VPCUK as this is the best place I know to go!

My 850R is gassed, and can honestly say its probably the best thing ive done to my car, it was quite expensive at £1800 (uprated injectors pushed the cost up) but when i used the car as my daily i was doing 18000/20000 miles pa, so in 2 years it paid for itself (gas is 52p litre).

you lose a bit in performance RR 314 bhp on V power and 301 bhp on gas, but i can live with that.

get it done at a reputable garage and keep on top of servicing approx £80 a year or 12000 miles, if you live near the midlands you are more than welcome to drive my car to try .

Hi Nealevo! Thank you for your post, Interesting. The car is my work machine right now (despite their very best efforts to change this!!) so I do circa 2K miles per month. I am just outside Swindon but the office is Studley/Redditch - close to you? How much boot space did you give up?

Mine is gassed too, as Niel said, best thing I have done

Didn't lose any boot space, as is mounted where the spare lives.

I run LPG on my S60R. I have a 66 litre tank in my wheel well. LPG costs around 71p a litre down here in sunny Hampshire. I can squeeze around 57 litres in and get around 300 miles from this. Car is also for sale on ebay

I actually live in Redditch, so quite close, no boot space lost as the sits in spare wheel well, also if you join a company called countrywide lpg is 52p or there is a filling station in studley @65p.

My 03 V70R gt runs lpg too. BRC system fitted. Thirsty tho, I can almost average 20 if I take it reasonably steady. I've never ran it on petrol tho, so don't know how it compares.
Definitely makes the car affordable to run. On a run I can get it up to 27. 67p per litre near Newcastle.
May the boost be with you.

I don't have a flashlube system, I figure that running it on petrol for the odd long journey would be just fine.

It may compensate running on petrol from time to time but I`m not a pro on LPG systems, just to be onb the safe side for the sake of £130-150 max I`d stick it on tbh.
