I've had the 16v but never a 10.....will it to sluggish/slow
I've had the 16v but never a 10.....will it to sluggish/slow
16v? were the other 4 valves knackered?
I doubt there would be much difference between to two apart from fuel economy tbh.
19t, greens, 3" inlet, 3" downpipe with race cat, V70R catback, autotech map...
310.2bhp / 333ft/lb
2016 Swedish Day UK "Best Modified Swede"
SOLD![]()
Got an old discovery now.
I've had the V70 2.5 before and was the 16v,because this is older (96) it's advertised as a 10v and wondered if it'd be ok for the size/weight
The 2.5 is 5 cylinder, so it can't be 16v. TBH 140bhp in a car the size of a V70 isn't alot, so would probably be very sluggish.
Sorry was getting mixed up, that's right....I've also had an 850 T5.....so this thing will be hellish....mind you, I looked at an old Merc c240 last week, I think it was less, about 115. That'll make the V70 seem quite quick
The 20v has 170bhp so would be a fair bit nippier
It is the 10v not the 20.....so will be quite sluggish/slow....plus it's auto.....probably best left
They ain't even economical
Not when it's only a 10v and you've got to rev the nackers off it to move....it's bordering on dangerous
Have ha bad experiences with the 10v losing compression twice lol two different cars the difference is the 10v is a bit punchier on low half of the rev counter but flat top half not great on motorways either due to high revs ...the 20v is sluggish lower half of revs and comes alive top half for sure is slightly quicker and better on motorways much better car all round in my opinion all mine where manual
Suppose what your driving habits are if you mostly pooching about town with not much motorway and drive quite reserved the 10v will be fine if not you need a 20v

1995 854 t5r
It was a T5 I had last so this will feel like a slug....I'm looking for an auto est but so far not having much luck
Like you say too, if dodling about towns (which a lot of my driving is) it's going to be hellish on fuel
If you're worried about fuel costs try finding an LPG equipped oneI'm getting around 24mpg from my V70R... but thats on gas so it equates to around 40mpg on petrol - much better
I haven't noticed a difference in performance and the engine runs exceptionally smoothly on either fuel.
Just thought I'd throw that thought in the pot for you...
edit - stay away from the 850 2.0 auto in either guise. I had one of those and it was an evil soul destroying creature. Way too little torque or power if you enjoy driving - and coming from a T5 you'll be suicidal lol.
