If you say the doors are roughly 3' by 2', that's 24 sq foot for all four. tailgate is about 3.5' by 2', up to 31 sq foot....
think you'll need more than 36 sq foot mate.
19t, greens, 3" inlet, 3" downpipe with race cat, V70R catback, autotech map...
310.2bhp / 333ft/lb
2016 Swedish Day UK "Best Modified Swede"
SOLD
Got an old discovery now.
And it will cost 1 MPG with the extra weight, then £20 in broken body clips
All the door clips on my car are new. They don't break if your careful.
apparently it makes a huge difference to intrusive exhaust sound and road noise coming into the car if you Dynamat the boot floor on a V70. Not only that, for me, with the sub in the tyre well, it should make a big difference to sound too!
Gonna get 36sq/ft pack. I will do the doors first and use whats left in the boot. I am aiming for 7sq/ft of Dynamat per door and boot.

Yes I have heard people say the same thing about the V70 ,I guess I don't have this problem as I have a S60.
Do you have a load cover fitted if so does that lower the sound level much or is it just to keep eyes out.
A long time ago I fitted a car out with Dynamat it did cut the noise level down from outside but the noise level from inside went through the roof with a big incar install.
What sort of weight is the pack .i do think someone does sell it as a kit for cars all pre cut.

No load cover. I removed it when the windows were tinted. I think it's less that the sound comes in and more that the road noise resonates through the floor of the car and is amplified by the large boot of the V70.
How do you mean the sound level went through the roof? In a good way?

you can get dynamat spray for the doors as for the boot floor you will need to do all the rear panels as well as the tail gate, dynamat is designed to keep audio in the car and stop rattles and accustic resonance from causing unwanted noise in the car.I used to have a Vectra hatch with all doors sprayed with dynamat running 6.5 inch componets focals in front doors and rear doors powered by a dap 800 watt amp with 2 cerwin stroker 15 inch subs in the boot powered from a Sherwood xt 2000 watt amp. I used 36 sq ft of matting just for the boot floor, tail gate, rear quarter panels, stripped the whole hatch out to the metal to do it right made a big difference to the quality of music, we also used car matting on the rear wheel arches prior to putting the wheel arches liners back plus the underside of the rear of the hatch won a couple of awards at sound-offs for sound quality and staging and depth of volume you could hardly hear the sound out of the car
I have some spare sound proofing I need to get rid off. 20 quid delivered - self adhesive.

I'd be interested to know how you get on. Some 'how to' pics would be really good. I have been wondering how much of the noise actually comes from the large boot floor itself. Thoughts? When I had 944s - if the boot floor carpet was left out, the increase in noise was huge.
Pulling the load cover over does nothing for noise reduction however.

Did you cover the whole floor? I've been watching DIY on YouTube and some of them say that covering 20% of the surface it's enough to reduce the sound by 90%.
V70 2.4T5 M66 Summum
yes there is a noticeable difference. The depth of bass from the Sub under the rear floor is enriched and has more presence with no distortion or vibration.
Some songs by Tupac now make my ears bleed if cranked up
You can see how much of the floor I covered in my Project thread. Pretty much, all of it. But have a look at the thread photos.
