Puff of blue smoke... breather behind the inlet manifold???

    Hi guys just a quick one. I've got a v70r 2.3 t,

I want for a nice wee drive yesterday and did about 200 miles as I was just at a loose end and wanted to drive. I was driving enthusiastically at times but not ragging the car by any means.

I went out to the car today and started her up and there was a puff of blue smoke came out. The car has never done this since I got it in December. It was just a wee puff which raised up by the rear window and caught my attention in the rear view mirror. I took it by the garage and they seem to think it could be the breather box which is behind the inlet manifold. Has anyone else had this problem or changed this breather box?

The car is booked into the garage for Monday morning anyway to get the following looked at -

    Cruise control -dead
Headlight wipers - new motors to be fitted
Car is using a little water- pressure test ( using about 1ltr every 1000 miles) roughly )
Front near side wheel sound like its rubbing on something when reversing and steering is near full lock- ball joint?

Any one any advice about the blue smoke let me know or if you've changed the breather box.

    Thanks Craig.

The cruise control is probably just a knackered clutch position sensor - cheap fix, it's on the clutch pedal somewhere.
The water could be leaking from the connection to through the bulkhead to the heater matrix.
Wheel rubbing could just be steering stops requiring replacement.

As for the puff of smoke - if the PCV is working properly (breather box is an integral part of the Positive Crankcase Ventilation system) then some "spirited driving" could encourage some oil into the inlet (the PCV vents to the inlet pipe, just before the turbo) this could give you a puff of smoke. Is it just the once? or has it happened every time you've started the car today?
19t, greens, 3" inlet, 3" downpipe with race cat, V70R catback, autotech map...

It was just the first time I started it this morning, when it was cold. I did what i had to in and about town and I felt it wasnt running as smooth as it usually does, although that might have just even in my head. Popped in to the garage I use (a volvo specialist) the mechanic came out and just after I started the car there was a strong smell of oil. . After I came away from the garage I had to give it guns to get out a junction and the turbo kicked in and all felt fine again after that. Will keep my eye on it though. There is plenty of oil in it too.
