I think that's much to much of a generalization, the reason the volvos split the liners is because of the stupid design of having a 10mm deep expansion slot at the top.

Anything above this figure you are asking for engine failure eg, split liners.
    Sorry but thats absolute rubbish.

There are plenty of engines out there, some even production engines that do more than that power per litre without regularly going pop.

Eg. Mitsibushi Evo VIII - 405 bhp from 2.0L or Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R - 197bhp from 1.3L etc...

You didn't say it's only 100bhp/litre if they rev to 8k.

Or is the slot to help with cooling around the head gasket area, remove any traped air aswell the expansion.

Also if you use the 2435 block and crank with s60r pistons and rods you drop the piston down the bore abit that drops the compression less heat on full boost.alot of peeps run the blocks with high boosting small turbos that produce alot of heat .

I've decided to repair my block rather than go through the hassle of swapping everything into the other block.

The first pic shows a normal expansion slot:

Next pic shows the closed up slot and you can just about make out the crack

Next three pics show the shims and JB Weld in place.

From what I understand, and looking at my other block, it's just the jb weld and shims should stop the crack from opening under pressure.

Not yet, there's a lot more to do yet. But here's a few more bits:

I need an injector loom, if anyone's got one spare.

It's been done before, so I assume so, but I can always have a chat with Adam if it doesn't work.
