Does or has anyone fitted a S60R engine in a 850 ??
I no the S60R engine has VVT but the 850 doesn`t so is it a case of not using the VVT ??

TBH if you're just going to use the bottom end, then you'd be better off with a 2.4, as the liners are thicker. Nick MRP's engine whilst he's not looking.

so why do 2.5 liners split and 2.4's don't?

going back to the original question, you do lose some performance without VVT, as we found when ours packed up, butI suppose if you use higher lift cams, or port and polish the head, you may be able to compensate for it.
I have a s60 head on my new engine with the vvt deleted, solid lifters, ported and polishes and fernier adjustable camshafts on a 2.4 s60r bottom end.

I was under the impression the valves are the same size on both heads
The only difference was the VVT.
