I've been working on this all afternoon, and unless I can use a deeper disc (ie, 7mm or more closer to the lower ball joint, and I don't think there's likely to be room) it's looking like I'll be using a thinner 330x22 disc and retaining the larger T30x caliper for the primary kit.

I'll create (and post) the profiles for this kit to test against wheels, it reduces the need for wheel spacers by 9mm (+/- 1 or 2 mm) - which I HOPE will mean no spacer on the Titan.

I'll probably design the bracket so that it can be used with 330x22 (0mm to 2mm spacer maybe) AND the 330x32 disc (10mm to 12mm spacer maybe, still better than the Porsch option).

I hope this isn't information overload!!!

Oh, and the 330x22 discs will cost a lot less than the 330x32 S60R ones do - always helps.

    Slight update:

    1. Two sets of profiles are in the post to people to test.
    2. I've just done a more careful test with a Satelite, and the 330x22 kit appears to touch a plain spoke @ 1.0mm of spacer, and a "lettered" spoke @ 2.0mm, so I'm hoping for tolerances in my favour and that the 330x22>Satelite kit will need a 2mm spacer in real life (but it might be a 3-or-4mm spacer).
    3. I've found that (on the 330x32 disc's flange which is 7.65mm) the Satelite isn't contentric with a 5.8mm spacer, but 5.0mm and below are ok meaning 5.0mm is the maximum.

(Just edited as I got my wheel names crossed!!!)

Has anyone else had a go with the PDFs/profiles yet?

I'm stuck for the moment as I've not heard back on wheel clearances yet.

I have found an extra option I could seriously do with someone printing and testing inside the Titan. 332x30mm/bigger caliper (this fits in the Satelite with just a 2mm spacer!) ...here's the PDF profile for it, anyone want to try? http://www.keri.co.uk/wms/4Pbeta-vol...ed-SPACERS.pdf

If it fits in the Titan without a spacer then we have a winner I think.

Is that the new 332x30 I did today into the 17" Titan? Not sure what your wheels are. :-)

Templates arrived today. Will find some time over the next few days to check the comets.

That's great news guys! I've got a "final" plan after problems with several of the discs I was using. The "final" plan is (sharing one bracket):

    - 331.7x30, T30x (big) caliper, fits 17" Titan with NO wheel spacer (based on PDFs) = Est £600.79+vat (+/- 5%) including discs.
    - 330x22, T30x (big) caliper, fits 17" Titan with NO wheel spacer (based on PDFs) = Est £551.38+vat (+/- 5%) including discs.
    - .....plus an option to buy a discless kit to match the 330x32 S60R discs, BUT you'll need to buy thick wheel spacers.

    You'll also need:
    - Ferodo (deep / 49mm type) DS2500 = £105.00+vat/set
    - Ferodo (deep / 49mm type) DS3000 = £115.50+vat/set
    - Lines = £TBC

This also leaves an upgrade path to use 331.7x32mm rotors + bells in the future, retaining the whole kit other than discs, and STILL fitting under the 17" Titan with no wheel spacers.

It's worth noting that 15mm wheel spacers that we've avoided being needed are not cheep at £50-70/pr inc.

This has been by far the most first-stage R&D (in terms of iterations) I've ever done on a new kit!!!!

    i hope this works.

this is test three and iv cut the green bit down to the 5 mm spacer and it clears the wheel. anymore and i think it will hit the wheel.

    i hope this helps.

That's brilliant Shadow, thank you very much! The Titan looks like a much more brake-friendly wheel than either the Satelite or Volan.

"Test One" can be regarded as the "same" as the new 331.7x30 kit I'm pretty much settled on (in fact the new 30mm thick one has 0.7mm more clearance even though it's a thicker disc).

"Test Three" is the S60R disc with the WMS calipers, again that's good as the wheels should JUST remain concentric with 5mm of wheel spacer (so no need to jump to 15mm/hubcentric spacers with Titans+S60R discs).

one thing i forgot.if you look in the pics the balance weight just clears the template by about 1 mm. so its real close but my metro sport was the same you could'nt get a credit card between the weight's and the wheel and that was fine.

    I have tested both 7J & 7.5J comets.

    Here are the 7J wheels..

on the 7J the test 1 does not clear. I cut back test 2 to 5mm - and it was close.

    Here are the 7.5J

7.5J comets - the test1 clears fine (no spacers).

I checked the 17 inch space saver & it will not fit any template.

So the overall picture - the kit will comets - 7.5J better than 7J & you will need 5 wheels. For both sets of comets there was plenty of room at the end of the template.

You dont need 5 wheels. If the front punctures, remove one from the rear to fit into the front and use a space saver for the rear.
Unless the BBK is for the rear too ?

good point - I had not though of having to do a 3 wheel swap - still a bit of a PITA.

    Thanks Dave!

Is the 7.5 Comet more or less common on the 850 than the 7.0?

Are there more than one width of Titan as well.....and in fact is that true of the other wheels too (two width options)?

Much less common than titans. Comets were only introduced for 70 series phase 1 AFAIK. 7.5J Comets were made for C70 coupe & cabrio only.

I believe comets are the only alloys that came in 2 widths.

Thanks Dave - that's good news for me to be honest. :-)

Are you planning to run the 7.0 or 7.5's on yours?
