volvo ipod adaptor

I have an s60 with the genuine volvo ipod adaptor, my iphone 4s works perfectly, but I got hold of a 3rd gen ipod touch to just leave in car, but refuses to work in the volvo, both are running iOS 5.1.1, and i have tried it in my other non volvo car with factory ipod connectivity, and both work fine, am I just gonna have to buy a new adaptor?

can think of no reason why it wouldn't work. theoretically it's a standard, albeit Apple's own. Have you tried the iPod touch in another device, like a speaker dock or something, to see if it works in there. could be the iPod is faulty and not the volvo adaptor
