play with the 2.0t engine? or some sort of 2.3 hybrid

so... dead s60 2.0 t engine, do i rebuild, de compression plate, t5 turbo an injectors, walbro pump, rods, an custom remap? an venture into the unknown and possibly waste money?

or drop a 2.3 lump in, and try get it working on 2.0t ecu and go again for a custom remap, shame these cant be home tuned via obd port, or atleast i cant find anything to say other wise

need help deciding, car doesent stand me at alot so dont mind turning it into a decent project if i think ill get a decent outcome, yes i know if i want the extra go buy a t5, but this is really nice for what it stands me at, an where would the fun be in buying one? already done it before lol

mmmm, the 2.4 T5 with the Turbo Tuner...

Don't forget to swap the immobiliser and all related gubbins.
    could be fraught with horrors

For what you'll end up spending, wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to just buy an ex-plod 2.4 t5 with a 6 speed box? there's good ones about for 3k.

buy the T5 and then start tuning that.... then you'll have a serious motor

You'll want to chop in the 2.0T for a full blown T5 at some point... so you may as well cut your losses and do it now!

hmm, food for thought, but i really would prefer to build this up, just bin told to use 2.0 t ecu etc on standerd 2.3 engine, an should all work.

200 quid s60 on 77k an fsh tho? not going to get better for the money, no matter how useless all that will be with anouther engine in tho lol.

If you do want to keep it - custom map with 2.3 rods n pistons is the way to go methinks.

if he just swops the actual block over the ecu won't know any difference, will need the correct engine mapping putting onto the original ecu tho

been offerd a good 2.0t engine nice and cheep, but would much prefer to build up a 2.3 or 2.4 just how to get round the mapping thing, unless i get a 2.3 or 2.4 ecu to match, then not sure about how to get it all coded to the car etc...

an yeh sorted the seats in my mates s60 ex plod, well , asin there all in and hes happy with it, he decided to take it to a garage and get the wiring sorted.

so ill be re wiring and fitting the cloth seats in my s60 at the weekend, forcast ahead dont look good tho.

You're insurance company will slay you for changing the engine to that other than specified on the V5.

There are plenty of great 2.4 T5's out there & they are dirt cheap. 320bhp on just a remap - I think you're daft to consider doing it to the 2 litre.
