All of it please every step of the way it will help other people loads
What Pete said lol if you don't mind
ok, I just tried on mine (so it definately works!!)
Lay on your back on the floor in front of the car, with your legs facing toward the drivers side.
Put your right arm in the drivers side of the large bumper hole, and manouvre your arm up toward the bonnet
you will feel the bonnet latch mechanism, on the drivers side of it you will feel where the cable is (or would be going to), feel just the other side of the metal frame that the cable goes into, and you will find a small lever.
With your fingers push the lever toward the drivers side of the car and the bonnet will simply pop open as normal.
It is fiddly/and a real squeeze but it is dooable. (i just tried it on my car 5 times!!)
But it requires no tools, and best of all no broken parts!!!!

I've just loaded a video to hopefully help explain.
Everything is done from the drivers side of the bumper.
sorry for my poor camera skills!
The section in the middle of the video is just trying to show the actual mechanism you are trying to find.

Hope it helps!

Well despite my mate being able to get his hand up there the back of the catch is too close to the radiator to flick the release so we are back to square one, my forearms and arm is too big to fit in it. Looks like a bumper off job unless I go in through the grill
what about using something like the bent end of an allen key to 'hook' the catch?
No joy on that either. I ended up having to go through the grill, undo the three 10mm nuts and release it that way. It gave just enough to 'finger' the release but as it was full of crap and rusty it was too stiff to release. Job now done but what a hassle just for a run of cable. Now to either source a grill (maybe eggbox) or make my own if I can be arsed. I will do a write up later and add your pics and vid in too (joint collaboration)
Oh and my wrists and hands are scratched to shreds with the grill lol
