It could be the realease bearing but you wont be able to test if it is untill there is fluid in the system
That's what i was wondering as nothing is under pressure.

That sound just like the noise myne is making just louder. Could well be relaese bearing. Did you replace it or is it your old one?

Its very difficult to tell exactly what the noise is. It could well be as described the bearing becuase there is no pressure in the system. I think the first point of call is definately to see what happens once the system has been bled.
Its certainly not the shafts as they would only make a noise when you try to select gear.
The only think I can think at the moment other than that the system has no fluid is that the clutch is on the wrong way round but both me and Joe checked it so that shouldnt be the case and its certainly seated correctly.
Eagrely await results from wednesday!

right car is back and i'm very pissed off as it turns out its got a knackered clutch release bearing, which really pisses me off as could have put mine in before the gearbox was bolted on, also the steering has gone quite stiff and wont self centre after a corner any ideas?
Is it driveable with the release bearing the way it is?
My steering does that too when its cold. After half an hour or so it goes and seems to be fine.
