Nice set up there, the boxes look rather small though or did they literally take up your entire trunk space?
I'll probably see about running the subs off a JBL 1400.1 amp, and then a JBL 1004E amp for the speakers.
Looks like the plan may change though, cos I was looking to run 4x 15" GTO series JBL subs, but will probably run 4x 12" Power series JBL subs now, which despite being smaller, are hella lot more powerful!

the boxes were originally made for the QXF (Maystar) subs but as i like sticking with one manufacture thoughout changed them for Vibes, the Maystars did sound better tho. They were very deep
couldn't find any specs for the amps, but assume its 1400watt (RMS?) Mono channel. What ohmage is it stable to?I'll probably see about running the subs off a JBL 1400.1 amp, and then a JBL 1004E amp for the speakers.
i do like 12"s myself (the S60's going get 2 eventually), had a lovely Kenwood install with 2 x 12"s but ran too much power & split both cones lolLooks like the plan may change though, cos I was looking to run 4x 15" GTO series JBL subs, but will probably run 4x 12" Power series JBL subs now, which despite being smaller, are hella lot more powerful!

The amp is actually 1500W RMS at 2ohm, or 1200W RMS at 4ohm. It is just 2ohm stable, not 1ohm, but that doesn't bother me. It's a bloody good amp actually!!
The amp is also known as the 14001E amp, but most people call it the 1400.1 so may be why you can't find spec on it.
That is a very nice install you got there. I'll be running the subs in maxiumum size ported boxes, for maximum SPL More fun that way hehe

working in carpentry for so long i got bored with the same install very easily, so it got ripped out & started again. Thanks for the comments
i could never get on with ported boxs, was never happy with the sound so always stuck to sealed
even running 4ohm should be good enough
Ahhh, fair enough then, being in carpentry. Know the feeling about being bored with looking at stuff anyways, let alone with that aspect of things too lol
Yea, gonna run dual 2ohm subs, more practical for transferring to other applications where 4 of them might not fit.
Plus, I think running them at 1200W will be loud enough with those subs, though I may decide to only run 3 of them, and have them running at 1.3ohms (provided the amp will cope) and have them seeing more power each
Cos what I am thinking about doing, is running 3 subs, having the middle one higher up than the other two, have my fire extinguisher on the bottom in the middle, and then have some 6x9s above the subs on the sides, to give some nice sound coming out the tail gate
Will see what happens

he he
looks good.
fix it on with some big rusty nails and barbed wire
Hahaa, not a bad idea, might use some rusty bolts or something like that to hold it down
And update time!! Car is back now, after the garage ballsed things up, and she's looking awesome
The new metal panelled rear "window"
And of course, the rat rack hammock WOOOOOOPP!!!!

Brilliant! All of it- just genius; I love it
Looks like a modern interpretation of a mad max baddie car.
I like it.
You guys really seem to know your stuff on sound systems, installs etc.. great skills all over this forum.
Volvo 855 2.5 10v CD
Its got everything except a turbo - boo hoo...
lol what? gotta admit, it does look kinda hmmmm rustic?
Cheers dude Still got more to go on it too. Gonna do about a 4" suspension lift using spacers on the top of the struts and stick chunky all terrain tyres on it
Cheers again mate Yea, it's being done as a sorta post apocalyptic rat wagon. So all matt black for stealth. The rusty hood as if it's had an engine fire Roof rack for supplies and hammock for camping at night quickly
Hehee, yea, I get the "WHAT?" reaction quite a bit shockingly enough LOL Great fun though
